I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified School Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in clinical, school, and community mental health settings. As the founder of Pura Vida Family Psychotherapy, I am committed to providing bilingual (English/Spanish) therapy that is inclusive, compassionate, and practical. My professional journey includes serving as a psychiatric clinician, child and family therapist, and school social worker—experiences that give me a deep understanding of the challenges clients face across the lifespan.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my main goal is to get to know you and understand what matters most to you. I’ll ask about your past experiences with therapy, what prompted you to seek support now, and the goals you would like to work toward. I want to hear your story in your own words, and I will always respect that you are the expert on your life. This space is safe and nonjudgmental, allowing your voice, values, and experiences to guide the direction of our work together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My style is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. I use eclectic evidence-based approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness—to help clients gain tools for resilience and healing. For families, I incorporate Family Systems Therapy to strengthen relationships and improve communication. Sessions are tailored to your unique needs, values, and cultural background.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Are you or your child struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, or major life changes? You don’t have to face it alone. I provide a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered. Whether you’re a parent seeking help for your child, a young adult navigating transitions, or an adult coping with life’s challenges, I’m here to support you.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I adopt a flexible and eclectic approach to therapy. My methods draw from trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and culturally sensitive and multicultural perspectives. I also incorporate positive psychology and mindfulness-based therapy into my practice. For clients who are believers, I offer faith-based treatment as appropriate. When working with children, I use play therapy and family therapy to enhance home connection, communication, and healing. My training in Child-Parent Psychotherapy informs my efforts to strengthen attachment, address trauma, and promote resilience in both children and their caregivers. This flexibility enables me to tailor my treatment to meet each individual's needs, values, and cultural background.
