In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, it will typically be a person-centered, strength-based approach, which can assist you in exploring the reasons that brought you to therapy. This is an approach that can help set up the most appropriate ways to assist you in making healthy changes and progress towards your goals.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I have over 10 years of field experience. My specialties include SUD and addiction in all forms, grief, depression, anxiety, mindfulness, co-occurring diagnosis, and trauma. As a veteran, I also have a particular interest to work with veterans and first responders. I am trained in EMDR and Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention. My work history includes counseling at a highly respected substance use treatment center and staff social worker in a correctional facility. Some other roles include working in an outpatient setting conducting substance use assessments, along with outpatient therapy for adults/adolescents, and private practice.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I use person-centered, strength-based approaches, allowing for automomy in your change process. My approach is non-judmental and meeting you where you're at in this process.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
• I allow my clients autonomy to work through and process any challenges using empathy and positive regard. Using consistency in this approach allows for further connection and rapport with my client and allows me to meet the client where they are at mentally, in a non-judgmental way.
Motivational Interviewing
Using a person-centered approach allowing clients to explore their ambivalence and work towards their goal set in their treatment plan they developed, while collaborating with me.
