LMFT, 5 years of experience
My name is Caitlinn Concepcion and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy (DMFT) degree from Chaminade University of Honolulu. I am a compassionate therapist dedicated to empowering individuals on their journeys of self-discovery and healing. I create a safe, nurturing space for clients to explore their inner worlds, build resilience, and embrace personal growth. My therapeutic approach blends introspection with practical strategies, helping clients uncover insights, address challenges, and cultivate a deeper connection to their authentic selves.
During the first session, clients can expect a warm and welcoming space where we begin building a foundation of trust and understanding. I take time to learn about their concerns, history, and goals for therapy, while also explaining my approach and answering any questions they may have. The session is collaborative and paced to ensure clients feel comfortable sharing as much or as little as they are ready. It’s an opportunity to start forming a therapeutic partnership where they feel supported, heard, and respected.
As a provider, my greatest strengths include building strong therapeutic relationships through empathy and active listening, creating a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their challenges. I excel in tailoring evidence-based interventions to individual needs, ensuring culturally sensitive and client-centered care. Additionally, my dedication to continuous learning and self-reflection enables me to adapt and grow alongside my clients, enhancing the quality of support I provide.
I typically work with clients navigating challenges related to anxiety, depression, ongoing stress, trauma, family issues, women’s issues, and significant life changes. I am most comfortable supporting individuals as they process these experiences, offering a compassionate and empowering space to foster healing, resilience, and growth. My goal is to help clients develop effective coping strategies and uncover strengths to navigate their unique journeys.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, collaborative approach that helps individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about change. It emphasizes empathy, active listening, and supporting the client’s autonomy. In therapy, I use MI to guide clients in identifying their own motivations and values, helping them move toward meaningful behavioral change. I ask open-ended questions, reflect their responses, and highlight discrepancies between their goals and current behaviors. This approach fosters empowerment and builds internal motivation rather than imposing external pressure.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented approach that focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It operates on the idea that thoughts, feelings, and actions are interconnected. In therapy, I use CBT to help clients recognize patterns that contribute to their distress and develop healthier coping strategies. Through techniques like cognitive restructuring and behavioral experiments, clients learn to shift their thinking and responses. This approach is practical, evidence-based, and effective for a wide range of mental health concerns.
