Hi there, I'm Kamaria. Do you feel the weight on anxiety and low self-confidence plaguing your relationships and everyday life? Are you sinking in relationship issues because you're overwhelmed as a new mom or parent? I am a BIPOC mental health/psychotherapist, who enjoys helping empower women to find themselves in every transition life may bring. Together, we can identify what's not working and get you back in balance. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and women's issues. I have worked in the field of advocacy and mental health since 2006, at both the residential and outpatient levels. I have obtained a certification in Behavior Intervention Trauma Informed Care and my clinical experience is in Mindfulness and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. I'm licensed to provide counseling services to all of Texas. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English at Texas State University and then completed a Master’s degree in Social Work at University of Texas at San Antonio, followed by an additional Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis on Applied Behavior Science from Sam Houston State University. My approach to therapy is warm, interactive, and accepting. I understand how hard it is to take the first step, and I bring that understanding and comfort into my sessions. Whether you're dealing with overwhelm, relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hangups and habits holding you back. Let's work together! If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, I aim to create a comfortable and supportive environment where clients feel heard and understood. The first session is pivotal in establishing a foundation of trust and understanding. Clients should leave with a clearer sense of what therapy entails, feeling validated in their experiences, and with a sense of hope for the journey ahead.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths and specialties are BIPOC women issues, relationship issues, and work/life balance issues.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have a deep passion for and specialized experience in providing effective therapy for BIPOC women and teens. My background, training, and ongoing commitment to understanding the unique challenges faced by these communities have equipped me to offer tailored support that resonates with their experiences. I believe in creating a safe, culturally responsive space where BIPOC women and teens can feel understood, validated, and empowered to navigate their challenges. My goal is to provide compassionate and effective therapy that respects and honors their identities while addressing their specific needs and goals.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is great because it helps people stop fighting their thoughts and emotions and instead learn to work with them. Instead of trying to get rid of negative thoughts, ACT teaches you how to accept them without letting them control your actions. The goal is to focus on what really matters to you and take steps toward a fulfilling life, even when things feel tough. I help clients start taking action on what matters to them now, rather than waiting until they “feel better” to move forward.
