My name is Magalis but you may call me Maggie. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has experience working with people in recovery from addictions and mental health and trauma survivors. I have been trained in Anger Management and have worked with individuals who have legal involvement and are mandated to treatment, in addition to individuals who are on a personal journey seeking growth and change.
The first session is our opportunity to ask questions and to understand what brought you to therapy. We will identify goals you want to achieve and develop a treatment plan to focus on working towards those goals.
I am an active listener and prefer to offer validation and feedback. I am down to earth and easy to talk to. I like to pay attention to connections and ask questions that will prompt thinking and self reflection.
I have worked with clients who have court involvement, and I have provided update letters and collaborated with probation and parole officers. I have also worked in the field of addiction and helped patients on their path to recovery. Overall, I enjoy motivating people who want to pursue their life goals and I also like to focus on the power of hope and consistency.
Having worked primarily with people in recovery from addictions, CBT is an evidence based treatment that has had positive outcomes as it focuses on the relationship between emotions, thoughts and behavior.
Mindfulness based therapy focuses on the importance of self-awareness in real time and teaches skills to help us stay present so that we can intentionally choose solutions that offer the healthiest outcome.
