(she/her)
Hi, I’m Tammie! I’m glad you took the first step towards your mental wellness! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of professional work experience. I enjoy working with people of all ages and guiding them through their clinical goals. I have a strong background in working with adults with chronic mental illness and substance misuse challenges. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced physical, sexual, and or emotional abuse and neglect. My clinical experience has included psychotherapy services at correctional institutions; psychiatric hospitals; mobile crisis units; home health agencies; child, adolescent, and adult residential programs; and outpatient mental health clinics. I provide an eclectic approach utilizing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused, Crisis Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative, and Solutional Focused Therapies.
Our first session will focus on introductions to learn about each other. I will gather information from you about your personal history and what has worked for you and what has not. Together we will identify your treatment goals.
I am authentic and empathetic. I am real. I will actively listen, provide empathy, and create a safe space without judgement. I have experience connecting with people from all walks of life and am comfortable supporting individuals through a wide variety of life experiences.
My goal is to create a safe space to help you understand your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors; and help you find what works best for you in this chapter of your life. I work with you at your pace. There is no judgement or shaming. I love providing therapy homework for you to continue to work on goals in between sessions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps challenge recurring negative thoughts and manage their anxiety. We will use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact with one another. CBT is a great way of "retraining your brain" to be able to handle every day stressors and more.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT teaches skills to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and cope with distress by balancing acceptance and change. We will use DBT techniques such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to help with symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and self harm.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing focuses on open ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summarization to help you see the gap between your current behavior and your goals. With Motivational Interviewing, we will strengthen your own motivation and commitment by resolving ambivalence for you to make your life changes.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
SFBT focuses on building solutions and future hopes rather than dwelling on problems or past causes, helping you achieve your goals quickly by identifying your strengths and creating practical steps toward your preferred future. Together, we will work on solutions rather than on the problems that brought you to therapy.
Grief Therapy
Grief Therapy helps you cope with your loss. We will learn and develop techniques to help manage your intense emotions, process your loss, and regain daily function.

Just started with our first session, but already very impressed with how nonjudgmental and open minded and straightforward Tammie is. I already feel comfortable working with her.

I felt comfortable speaking with her. I was all over the place with my thoughts and feelings. And she heard me.
