Hi! I'm Andrea. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW-S) and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) based in Ohio. I am licensed to treat both mental health and substance use disorders. I have been working with substance use disorders for over eight years and mental health for six years. My passion is helping others identifying their ideal life and the necessary steps to get there.
In our first session, we will have a brief introduction, followed by identifying treatment goals and your current concerns. From there, we will identify personalized goals in order to develop a plan for us to focus on in future sessions. I believe in flexibility, so you have the power to determine the course of treatment. After all, it is YOUR treatment! I will meet you where you are.
Having years of experience with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, OCD, and substance use disorders, I have been able to use interventions tailored to concerns, including root causes, and underlying thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
I love working with people who are interested in identifying goals and clearing away the confusing chatter in their heads. It can be so helpful to have someone there to simply listen.
Andrea Matzye offers therapy covered by CareSource and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Ohio.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy truly makes you the expert on your own life! Sometimes thoughts can get overwhelming and it becomes tough to figure out goals, or where to even begin in making changes. My goal as a therapist is to help you discover lasting solutions for your circumstances by setting attainable goals.
Sometimes making changes can be difficult. Identifying areas that you wish to change, and potential benefits of those changes can help get the ball rolling! I have eight years of experience in treating addictions, which is a prime example of an area where we may need some extra motivation to sustain change.
Our thoughts and actions are much more intertwined than we realized. I have used CBT for years to help clients identify automatic thoughts and subsequent reactions. By becoming mindful of thought processes, actions can change.
Most people have experienced some sort of trauma. When I say trauma, it does not always mean a big, traumatic physical event. Sometimes, trauma is a result of years of negative beliefs about oneself. EMDR utilizes different techniques to allow us to reprocess memories that are tied to a negative belief about ourselves. Through reprocessing, memories can be paired with a different, healthier belief. This helps our nervous systems clear out the pain associated with past experiences.
