Hi, I’m Yashica, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Simi Valley, California. I bring over two decades of clinical experience to my work and believe deeply that hope is the catalyst for meaningful change. My therapeutic style is direct, compassionate, and honest, what I like to call “tough, but good.” I help clients challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs, and patterns that keep them stuck, creating space for real freedom and transformation. I offer in-person therapy only, and clients must be able and willing to attend sessions at my Simi Valley office.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session with me is focused on connection, understanding, and setting the foundation for meaningful work together. My clinical style is interactive, attentive, and engaging, and I’m committed to creating a safe, supportive space where growth, insight, and healing can begin. We’ll spend time building rapport, and you can expect a balance of empathy, curiosity, and appropriate humor to help you feel at ease. I don’t make assumptions about you or your experiences. Instead, I’ll ask thoughtful, clarifying questions to better understand who you are, what brought you in, and what you’re hoping to change. This session is about getting to know you, not judging or rushing you, and beginning to identify how therapy can best support you moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths as a provider include my ability to create a safe and empowering space where clients can channel their energies and confront frustrations, particularly in overcoming barriers and misconceptions related to mental health. Additionally, my expertise in Individual, Family, and Group therapy allows me to effectively support those dealing with depression, anxiety, fear, loneliness, and general dissatisfaction, guiding them towards hope, inner peace, and holistic healing through collaborative and clinically grounded approaches.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am particularly adept at serving high-functioning men and women of color who are grappling with anxiety, grief, depression, and career or life phase challenges. My approach is tailored to address the unique cultural and individual experiences of each client, fostering resilience and promoting mental wellness. I strive to create a supportive and understanding environment where clients can explore and address their struggles, leveraging evidence-based practices to facilitate meaningful and lasting change.

View 5 Photos I’m not the type of therapist who just nods and smiles. We’ll set clear goals, check in periodically to see if you’re actually moving towards those goals and I often throw in some humor life’s too short to not be able to laugh sometimes. When needed I can be direct and nurturing.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

My style is interactive, attentive and engaging with the goal of creating a safe environment to empower growth, insight and healing. In therapy, we will explore your inner world to understand the underlying causes of your pain, to heal, and to access and expand your capacity to live your best life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a practical, straightforward approach to therapy that helps you understand how your thoughts affect how you feel and how you behave. Often, we don’t realize how much our internal dialogue shapes our stress, anxiety, or mood. In CBT, we slow things down and take a closer look at those thought patterns, especially the ones that are unhelpful, inaccurate, or keeping you stuck. My work with CBT is very interactive and goal-focused. We don’t just talk about problems, we work on them. I help you learn how to challenge negative or distorted thinking and replace it with more balanced, realistic thoughts that support better choices and emotional relief. This approach also teaches practical coping skills you can use in everyday life, not just during sessions. CBT is well-researched and effective for concerns like anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, chronic pain, and sleep issues. If you’re looking for a therapist who is active, structured, and focused on giving you tools you can actually use, CBT may be a great fit.
