I am what I would say a non traditional kind of clinician. I will engage with you in a way that works for you, I am not the expert on you and want to walk along side of you and help you in a way that works for you. I will also push and prod at those tough spots so that we can work on finding out what is happening for you and we can work together to make a difference with your needs.
During a first session we will spend a lot of time getting to know each other. I am going to want to know what is bringing you into therapy and how I can help. I want to know about hopes, dreams, and all of the things that are standing in the way of those. I will ask some important questions and offer supports in a variety of ways.
My greatest strength as a clinician is being able to build therapeutic rapport. I am able to connect with people quickly and listen intently and am able to "get" what you are saying in a way that hopefully resonates with you and helps us to connect better to be able to make changes and offer supports.
I love to work with people that want to explore, dig deep, and really go into what is bothering them and assist them with being able to navigate a better way of life. I want to help you find your voice, your emotions, and be able to connect with all of yourself.
I like to explore the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and emotions/reactions to situations and see where we might be able to improve some of those to help us with our feelings about situations.
I like to explore our ability to examine our thoughts, feelings and emotions and work toward making changes that fit with our values and explore how our goals can affect our values.
I love to utilize EMDR for clients who have either big T trauma or little t trauma to be able to navigate their thoughts and feelings about the trauma and distance themselves from those traumatic events.
