Hi! I’m so glad you’re here. I know first-hand the vulnerability it takes to seek support, and the courage it takes to make change. My name is Laiken and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) deeply committed to supporting the neurodivergent community. Having navigated the complexities of neurodivergence myself, I bring a unique perspective that informs my practice and fuels my passion for helping others. I have received my Bachelors (BSW) and Masters of Science degree (MSSW) in Social Work from Troy University. I utilize a holistic approach in a therapeutic setting, blending various methods to nurture a well-rounded healing experience, and meet each client’s individual needs.
Clients can expect a nurturing, compassionate, safe, and a non-judgmental environment where they can be themselves. In our sessions, you will gain powerful insights into your thoughts and behaviors, develop resilience, cultivate healthy coping strategies, and uncover your true potential. While emerging with clarity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of yourself. In our first session together, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you can share your thoughts and feelings freely. I’ll guide you through an initial assessment to understand your unique experiences and, then gently explore your goals and challenges, ensuring you feel supported every step of the way. Together, we'll establish a foundation for our journey.
In my practice, I utilize a holistic approach in a therapeutic setting, blending various methods to nurture a well-rounded healing experience and tailor specifically to each client’s needs. I pull tools from a Strength-Based Approach, and Incorporate Person Centered, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance/Commitment (ACT) and Dialect Behavior Therapy (DBT) modalities. We will work collaboratively to develop strategies that resonate with you personally—strategies that empower you to reclaim your life and thrive despite the hurdles you may face. Working together we will encourage positive self-reflection, reframe negative self-talk through mindfulness techniques, and pave the way for you to align with your true self and take back your power to create a life you love. Rooted in empathy and empowerment I believe everyone has the inherent worth and strength to create a life they love.
I am an LGBTQ+ ally and my ideal clients are teens, young adults, adults, and senior individuals who grapple with High Functioning Anxiety/Depression, Perfectionism, Complex Trauma, Chronic Stress, Burnout, ADHD/ADD, OCD, ASD, Parenting ADHD/ADD children, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. I understand the challenges these conditions can present—whether it's emotional disregulation, anxiety, mood swings, anger outburst, lack of motivation, feeling out of control, negative thinking spirals, or hopelessness. These experiences can feel isolating; but you are not alone in your struggles, together we can navigate even the most treacherous of storms.
I incorporate “Mindfulness-Based Therapy” in my practice but utilizing the power of the mind, body, and soul connection. This approach honors the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. I believe true healing comes from addressing the whole person—not just isolated symptoms or issues. This means exploring not only physical health, but also emotional well-being, mental clarity, and a sense of deeper connection and purpose. By supporting all aspects of a person's experience, we create space for lasting transformation.
I utilize CBT a highly effective, evidence-based approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT helps individuals identify and challenge unhelpful patterns of thinking and develop healthier ways of coping and responding to life’s challenges.
Compassion Focused is an approach I often use in my work because it helps people develop a kinder, more supportive relationship with themselves. Many of us are incredibly hard on ourselves, especially when we're struggling or feeling vulnerable. Compassion Focused focuses on building self-compassion to reduce shame, self-criticism, and emotional distress.
Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that focuses on the connection between the mind and body. It uses gentle techniques like breathwork, body awareness, movement, and grounding exercises to help release tension, restore regulation to the nervous system, and support emotional healing from the inside out. When we include the body in our work, we can access deeper layers of healing and reconnect with a sense of safety, presence, and wholeness. It’s especially powerful for those dealing with anxiety, trauma, or feeling stuck in old patterns.
