Hello! My name is Janaye Tunstel, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed in both CT and PA. I received my Masters degree from Towson University in Maryland, and have been practicing for for 5 years. I have specialized training in working with anxiety, depression and complex trauma. However, I am just as passionate about supporting adults with these challenges.
Our first session will be an opportunity to get acclimated with the process of therapy and answer any questions you may have. We will discuss what brings you in, identify associated symptoms of distress, and begin to narrow down treatment goals.
I value my ability as a therapist to create a truly safe space. I have heard many 'therapist horror stories' in my years of practice about people who came out of therapy feeling judged, invalidated, or criticized. My clients can expect to feel seen, accepted, and heard in my sessions.
I love working with individuals interested in overcoming complex trauma, and know just how debilitating trauma symptoms can be. Supporting clients in developing the tools to cope with distress, navigate relationships in a healthy way, and connecting to a sense of self empowerment. I am also passionate about treating anxiety, and seeing client's become more confident with emotion regulation
Other specialties
I identify as
Trauma-Focused CBT
Trauma can negatively impact the way we view ourselves, others and the world. This modality provides clients with the strategies to identify, challenge and reframe distressing thought content associated with traumatic events, which is a crucial step in overcoming trauma
Attachment-based
Our early childhood experiences heavily impact our sense of security in relationships throughout the lifespan. With this model, we are able to explore how your early experiences have shaped your life, identify your attachment style and associated needs, and learn effective communication and interpersonal resolution skills to build and maintain healthy relationships
Mind-body approach
While developing a healthy relationship with your inner world is a crucial part of healing, many find that it is not enough to create lasting change. We must also address the physical symptom associated with distress. Associated strategies include mindfulness, meditation, somatic exercises, sensory regulation, visual imagery etc.

My therapist has such a kind, non-judgmental energy that I truly needed in order to continue my healing process. She is supportive and uplifting, and when I struggle to find kind words for myself, she offers the encouragement and perspective I need. Her presence has brought me clarity about my own character and helped me move forward in life more positively. I’m deeply grateful for the way she has guided me with both compassion and understanding!
