I’m Monica Guillén, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Certified EMDR Therapist providing telehealth therapy to adults in Washington and Florida. I specialize in helping adults heal from trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, and life transitions. Many clients seek therapy feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or living in constant survival mode. My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and culturally responsive. Therapy with me is supportive, structured, and paced to meet your needs. When appropriate, I use EMDR therapy to help process unresolved or distressing experiences so they no longer drive emotional reactions, anxiety, or self-doubt. I also integrate evidence-based tools to support nervous system regulation, emotional awareness, and day-to-day coping. As a bilingual and bicultural therapist, I understand how culture, family roles, and systemic stressors impact mental health. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and respected without judgment. Therapy is not about fixing you—it is about helping you reconnect with your strengths and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. I offer telehealth services to adults seeking trauma therapy, anxiety treatment, and support during major life changes. My goal is to help clients feel calmer, more grounded, and better equipped to navigate life with resilience, balance, and self-trust.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we focus on helping you feel comfortable and supported. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and what feels most important right now. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready for, and we will move at a pace that feels safe for you. I will ask gentle questions to understand your goals, current stressors, and strengths. We will also review what therapy with me looks like, including confidentiality, session structure, and next steps. If EMDR is part of your care, the first session is about understanding the process and building stability, not reliving painful experiences.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What makes my work unique is the combination of clinical depth, lived experience, and a steady, grounding presence. I bring extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, and long-standing stress patterns, and I understand how these experiences show up not just emotionally, but in the body, relationships, and daily life. As a bilingual and bicultural clinician, I am especially attuned to cultural context, identity, and intergenerational dynamics. Clients often share that they feel deeply understood without having to translate their experiences or explain cultural nuances. This allows the work to feel more natural, respectful, and effective. I am EMDR-focused and highly trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on nervous system regulation, safety, and pacing. Rather than rushing into painful material, I help clients build stability and internal resources so healing feels sustainable. My background allows me to balance warmth with clinical precision, helping clients move from survival mode into a greater sense of calm, clarity, and confidence in their lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

You may be a good fit for my practice if you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in patterns shaped by past experiences. Many of my clients are high-functioning but feel emotionally reactive, on edge, or exhausted from carrying unresolved trauma. You are open to EMDR therapy and trauma-informed care and want more than coping skills alone. You’re ready to process the root of what’s keeping you stuck so you can feel calmer, more grounded, and in control of your life.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I use this approach to help clients understand and work through the root causes of distress, not just manage symptoms. Treatment is individualized, trauma-informed, and paced to support emotional safety, insight, and meaningful growth.
