LMHC, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
I’m Kerdijra “Kayla” Ramoutar, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC-D, LPC) and founder of Trip & Thrive Mental Wellness. I help individuals, couples, and communities heal from trauma, manage anxiety, strengthen relationships, and rediscover self-confidence. My work blends evidence-based methods with cultural awareness and compassion creating a safe, judgment-free space where clients can explore, grow, and thrive at their own pace.
Our first session is a collaborative conversation, not an interrogation. I’ll walk you through the process, review confidentiality and expectations, and help you feel grounded before we begin. Together, we’ll explore what’s bringing you to therapy, identify the areas you’d like to work on, and set realistic goals that feel achievable. You can expect honesty, warmth, and gentle structure as we start building a plan for your healing journey.
My greatest strengths are my ability to connect deeply, hold safe space for difficult truths, and tailor therapy to each client’s unique story. I combine clinical precision with empathy and humor, allowing clients to feel seen without judgment. My background in trauma-informed care, gender-affirming therapy, and multicultural counseling allows me to meet people where they are, whether they’re processing the past, repairing relationships, or learning to prioritize their own peace.
I work best with individuals who are ready to take an honest look at themselves and make meaningful change. Many of my clients are high-functioning but emotionally exhausted juggling heavy responsibilities, perfectionism, or relationship struggles while silently battling anxiety, burnout, or self-doubt. I also specialize in supporting first-generation professionals, couples navigating disconnection, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who want therapy that feels affirming, real, and culturally attuned.
I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that influence emotions and behaviors. In my sessions, I guide clients to reframe negative beliefs, develop practical coping skills, and build healthier behavioral responses that align with their goals and values.
In couples therapy, I take a collaborative and strengths-based approach that helps partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional connection. I integrate techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy and CBT to help each partner better understand one another’s needs, attachment styles, and triggers while learning tools for healthy conflict resolution.
I provide a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for LGBTQ+, TNIA+, and gender-diverse clients to explore identity, navigate transitions, and strengthen self-acceptance. My approach emphasizes respect, autonomy, and advocacy, ensuring that clients feel validated and empowered in both their lived experiences and mental-health goals.
In group therapy, I facilitate supportive spaces where clients can share experiences, build insight, and practice new skills in a community setting. I use a blend of psychoeducation, mindfulness, and CBT-based interventions to help participants connect, process, and grow together while learning from shared perspectives.
