Hello! My name is Jessica Hallman and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. Many of us go throughout life having to be different versions of ourselves, whether that’s being different versions at work, with friends or with family. We get into this mode where we compartmentalize, hide ourselves and our experiences for various reasons which can include shame, pain, anxiety, anger, or fear of not being accepted. This often leaves us feeling lost, tired, unfulfilled, or unhappy. Whether you are experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, problems with relationships, or a general sense of disconnectedness, I will work alongside you to promote inner healing, self discovery, and acceptance while allowing you to feel fully seen. I’m committed to creating a space that is safe, supportive, and non-judgmental where you can gently put down the “mask” and bring your whole self. I believe in having an individualized approach to meeting your needs. With the use of Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution Focused Therapy, I will support you in gaining strength and finding joy. My belief is that we are each uniquely the captains of our own lives and at times, just need a new or different perspective on how to navigate our experiences. Let’s partner together, with you leading the way at your own pace (mask off), and begin the process of restoring your inner peace.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, I will review with you on your intake assessment in order to gain insight on your presenting problems. We will then work together to create manageable goals that you would like to accomplish while in therapy. We will also engage in rapport building; I will tell you a little bit more about myself and learn more about you outside of the general assessment. Lastly, I will explain more on how the therapy process will go and then get you scheduled for your next appointment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that my strengths lie in having compassion and partnership with my clients. I am on your team and in your corner. I believe in you already. I know that life can be tough but together we can figure it out. No judgement, just a space held for you to discover, grow, and shine your light.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am passionate about working with African American women and young girls. As a woman of color myself I can understand the struggles we face from within and from the world around us. I work with you to build self-compassion, self-worth and give you space to know that it is okay to not be okay. I challenge you to give yourself grace above all things. Together we will partner up to tackle life's challenges from a new perspective of self.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an essential part of therapy that I have used for many years. CBT helps with recognizing how your thoughts, emotions and behaviors all affect one another. Once we have explored the connection between the three we will then start to work through how to challenge your negative or unhealthy thoughts in order to move through difficult life stressors.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe that PCT can be so empowering for clients. It empowers you as the client to know that you are in control and in the driver seat of your own life. I will offer to you no judgement, genuineness and empathic understanding, giving you the space to express yourself in order for you to achieve greater independence in your life.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

SFBT is a very helpful treatment used with your own personal goals in mind. I have found over the years that helping clients identify what their problems or goals are and ways to accomplish them is an essential part in the therapeutic process.
