My name is Dr. Isaiah X'avier Gonzalez. I have my bachelor's in psychology, my master's in social work, my doctorate in social work, am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and am a professor of behavioral health at a University. I am trained in trauma and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I utilize evidence-based practices to help address a myriad of mental health issues. I have extensive experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum, the birth to five population, children in the child welfare system, and children experiencing anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. I offer virtual and in-person sessions. The in-person sessions would be home-based as i do not have a physical office. I have always wanted to give back to the community that i came from. I take pride in the work that i do and genuinely want to help everyone i work with. I am reflective and encourage my clients to provide me feedback on what is working for them as well as what is not. If something is not working, it is up to me to find a new path that would work better for the client.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be a rapport-building session. This is where I get to know you and you get to know me. It is important that we create a relationship before starting the therapeutic process so that you feel more comfortable sharing with me.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am deeply empathetic. My life experience allow me the ability to see and understand what many of my clients go through. The lens of my life experience is an important tool in my belt and can help me connect and understand my clients in a more personal way.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve LGBTQ+ youth, child welfare-involved youth, Autism Spectrum Disorder youth, as well as pre-teen and teen boys.

My treatment methods

Polyvagal Therapy

Polyvagal therapy explores the connection between the autonomic nervous system and social behavior, emotional regulation, and overall well-being. I specialize in polyvagal autism informed treatment which is an evidence-based alternative to ABA therapy for children on the spectrum. Polyvagal informed autism treatment is less compliance-oriented and more strength-based

Attachment-based

Attachment-based therapy is designed to help address attachment issues in a person's relationship with their identified supports as well as attachment issues that develop from childhood abuse.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) works with the parent and their child (0-6yrs old) on addressing and healing from shared trauma experiences such as domestic violence, abuse, neglect, and other trauma experiences. This is a dyadic treatment and involves the parent and the child.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy helps clients understand how their thoughts impact their emotions and how those emotions impact their behavior. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps address issues such as anxiety and other trauma experiences.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a family-based treatment that involves addressing a myriad of family issues such as communication, defiance, and other difficult family circumstances. It is important to note that family therapy involves the entire family
