LCSW, 3 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi! I'm Hannah, an LCSW who has been working in community mental health for over five years and chose the mental health field after engaging in a positive therapeutic experience myself to address anxiety. I am dedicated to providing an accepting environment in which clients can explore and analyze their feelings, experiences, and behaviors in order to achieve the goals they set for themselves. I pride myself on my ability to connect with others in a wide variety of interests and help others feel more comfortable in not only opening up in sessions but also more comfortable with themselves.
A first session with me typically looks like a brief overview confidentiality, the therapeutic process, and then spending time getting to know you as a client and what brought you to see me. We may additionally begin to discuss therapeutic goals or gaining more information on the history of your current concerns.
A consistent piece of feedback I have been given by clients and coworkers is my ability to connect with almost anyone and help them feel comfortable with me. A genuine connection with my clients where they feel supported, unjudged, and given a variety of transferable skills helps my clients reach their goals.
Ideal clients to me are those who feel ready to address the concerns that they have. Individuals who are seeking not only support but also concrete steps to achieving their goals. I tend to provide a great deal of psychoeducation as I feel understanding the mind and our bodies reactions helps us to better accept, feel, and correct (if needed) our reactions and patterns.
Cognitive Behavioral therapy the basis for many therapeutic approaches and can help address a wide range of concerns or mental health conditions. Through identifying patterns of behaviors and thoughts we can work to address how they impact our feelings and change these patterns to achieve goals.
I have been providing Functional Family Therapy for over two and a half years to family's with DCBS involvement. FFT helps address delinquent behavior in adolescents but can also help strengthen the family unit, improve communication skills, and decrease the frequency and intensity of arguments in the home.
The mind and body connection is an important component in ensuring that therapeutic skills are not just understood but also felt. Learning to focus on the present is a crucial part of letting go of past trauma and anxieties about the future.
The experiences that happen in our lives shape who we are and who we become. Understanding how trauma shapes us and while helping to keep us safe also sometimes limits us is important when doing therapeutic work to ensure future risks are managed and clients experiences are validated and understood.
