New to Grow
I am a Chinese-American adoptee who grew up in Grand Junction, CO. My childhood memories consist of playing imaginative games with my sisters and close friends. In my youth, I was an active member in choir, performed in musicals, and focused on my dream of being a ballerina. When I was 18, I decided to move across the country and attend Goucher College in Baltimore, MD where I obtained my BA in Psychology and Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies. Between my undergraduate and graduate education, I moved to Australia and worked as a residential counselor for displaced youth. Upon my return to the USA, I attended the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work where I obtained my MSW with a concentration in Mental Health. Upon graduating, I began my private practice and served as a school social worker at Montview Elementary in Aurora Public Schools. Now, I focus on my therapeutic work and advocating. Fun fact, I'm also a professional dancer and instructor at a local dance studio! My life-long journey of navigating what it means to be an Asian-American female adoptee fuels my passion for helping others make sense of who they are in this world.
In our first session, I like to get to know you and your goals through conversations about your upbringing, impactful experiences, and things that are important to you. We'll talk about how we can work together to meet your goals and build rapport!
As a Chinese-American adoptee, I have a unique perspective to work with other adoptees and people with early life attachment trauma. I'm an empathetic and non-judgemental person who loves creating a safe space for people to explore every facet of themselves.
I love working with people of all ages who identify with any marginalized populations such as being a person of color, LGBTQIA+, adopted, SW etc. Every client I work with has been through trauma and is committed to processing through it and healing.
I use Attachment Theory with every client as a way of understanding each individual. It's important to learn about not just the person in front of me today, but their history and experiences.
I'm EMDRIA-trained and utilize EMDR for a variety of clients who need support with getting "unstuck." Anyone with unprocessed trauma/PTSD, anxiety/depression, phobias etc can benefit from EMDR.
IFS has been a highly effective tool to help clients understand their complex selves and work towards an inner harmony.
