New to Grow
I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey where we work together to navigate life's challenges and celebrate your successes. My approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and a genuine desire to help you find the best path forward. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, and families, and I am passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment for all my clients.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, I want to provide a space where we can both learn more about each other. I will provide my experience and education, as well as my therapy style. I will want to learn about your therapy goals, your family history, your current relationships, previous treatment history, and other impactful areas in your life. I provide a space for you to ask questions and be transparent with me too. I believe in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship and strive to build trust and rapport with each of my clients.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I have worked in a variety of settings and I feel these experiences have expanded my knowledge and toolbox in how I can appropriately and effectively support my clients. I am an open, honest communicator who provides a validating and empathetic environment.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My professional journey has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to address a variety of mental health concerns. I specialize in adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, anger management, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, children's mental/behavioral health, depression, family relationships, life transitions, multicultural/diversity issues, PTSD, and stress. Whether you are dealing with a specific issue or looking for guidance through a difficult period, I am here to help.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I recognize that we can get overwhelmed with the challenges life throws our way. I believe we have resources and tools that can help us work through these challenges. So, I will work with you to uncover these and bring them forward.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Our cognitive distortions, the things we believe about ourselves and others, can impact how we navigate life and how we feel in our day-to-day activities. I will walk alongside you as we catch, check, and change the negative thoughts.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I believe it's important to understand our emotions and how to navigate them, especially with tangible skills. I teach different skills from the DBT modules and will assign them for homework so that clients can practice them outside of sessions.
Structural Family Therapy
When working with families, I utilize this modality as it addresses power imbalances, communication & behavior patterns, family structure & hierarchy, and boundary setting.
Christian Counseling
I offer a supportive and compassionate space that honors each client’s faith, values, and personal beliefs. For clients who desire it, I gently integrate Christian principles alongside evidence-based therapy. Faith is always incorporated at the client’s comfort level and never imposed.
