My name is Makisha Brown-Harp. I am a licensed psychotherapist with a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work and a Bachelor's in Science from Florida State University. Whether it be therapy, counseling, guidance, coaching, or the need for connection that influenced your search for services. For many people and for different reasons, it’s hard to acknowledge that you want help, and I genuinely commend you for taking the initiative to do so. With your perseverance and my understanding of behavior change, insight development, and skill building, you will be successful in achieving your goals. My approach to improving mental health is aided by a thorough understanding of acute, chronic, and situational mental illnesses as well as experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of diverse populations. I specialize in the treatment of personality disorders, trauma, and suicide prevention. I am certified in several psychotherapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I also utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness practices. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Florida State University and a Master of Social Work from Saint Leo University. I am currently accepting new clients. Initial sessions are scheduled for Mondays at 9 AM or 10 AM, after which clients are able to schedule appointments Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM. If you'd like to call and ask questions before scheduling, feel free to reach out to the Grow Therapy contact line (646-687-9932).
During your first appointment with me, your needs, expectations, and questions will be taken into great consideration as we discuss your treatment options. Getting to know you and what is important to you will be a priority, as well as you getting to know me.
I have provided mental health services in various environments, including forensics, state, and federal agencies. My most recent experience as a Senior Social Worker at the US Department of Veterans Affairs gave me extensive knowledge in treating our armed forces as they battle PTSD, sleep disorders, and emotional dysregulation. I also have rigorous training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy through the Marsha Linehan training institute, Behavioral Tech.
I have extensive experience in working with individuals from various backgrounds and life stages, including working professionals, the elderly, those who've experienced trauma, individuals with depressive and anxiety disorders, and those diagnosed with personality disorders.

A wonderful therapist that made me feel comfortable opening up about my life and provided tangible goals at the end of each session that gives me a sense of progress.

I just love how warm and welcoming kisha is, as someone who has spent months before looking for a therapist. I appreciate how easy to share and how thoughtful her responses are even for the more delicate subjects. So excited to work with a therapist she was so understanding on a wide variety of subjects
