I am Allegra (they/them), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida. I received my master's from Smith College School for Social Work and have over three years of experience. My main areas of expertise are anxiety, grief, and working with those that identify as LGBTQIA+. Outside of my clinical work, I have much experience organizing and advocating for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and QTPOC communities. As a clinician, I will support you along your therapeutic journey in gaining more self-confidence, awareness, and empowerment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first couple of sessions, we will spend time getting to know each other. Establishing a good therapeutic relationship is the key to a successful therapy experience. In addition, we will explore what has brought you to therapy, your goals, and how I can best support you in your therapeutic journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths as a therapist embody being non-judgemental, empathetic, and a supportive, collaborative spirit. As social workers, we meet people where they are, and I aim to be consistent in this through my work. I am here to support you in identifying and deepening your strengths. Many people think of therapy as a place where the therapist provides you with advice and answers. YOU have all the answers you need and already have great strength and potential. I look forward to learning and uncovering more about your strengths to support you in being the best version of yourself.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Therapy can be intimidating, but it can also be an excellent place for self-exploration and growth. I foster a safe, non-judgemental space for my clients to explore their fears and worries to help identify and strengthen coping skills in managing anxiety. I also support clients in setting boundaries to empower and build self-confidence. In addition, I am well versed and have supported many individuals through end of life, grief, and loss. Whether you are experiencing anticipatory grief or have just lost a loved one, I am here to provide support. Grief and loss are complex emotions that come up in our lives. Death is a part of our lives, and grief and loss may bring up complex emotions as a result of it. I am here to help support you through processing your grief and moving on while honoring the life of the one you have lost. I look forward to learning more about and supporting you along your therapeutic journey.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

I have used motivational interviewing techniques and methods for the past year to meet my clients where they are and understand their values, commitments, and motivations. Motivational interviewing aims to empower others through understanding their meaning and capacity for change. We can collaborate to understand what is important to you and how you want to engage in the therapeutic process.

Strength-Based

As a social worker, using a strength-based approach is a part of the core of my practice. Strength-based is a holistic approach that recognizes everyone's strengths rather than deficits. We can use this approach to identify and focus on your strengths in supporting your growth in your therapy goals.

Trauma Informed Care

I have utilized Trauma Informed Care (TIC) within the past three years of my work. TIC recognizes and acknowledges how trauma impacts an individual. Through the principles of trust, safety, choice, collaboration, and empowerment, I hope to provide more support in your therapeutic journey.
