Shannon's approach is collaborative. She believes that by working together, a positive outcome is achievable. Shannon provides a warm, open, non-judgmental environment where one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are explored and discussed in an objective, respectful, empathetic manner. Shannon is licensed in Arizona California, Colorado, Nevada and Texas. At this time, Shannon only provide services virtually through a secure telehealth system. Four things Shannon wants you to know before you begin therapy with her : 1. She wants treatment to work just as much as you do. 2. She is not judging you, and needs to hear all of your truth(s) in order to best support you. You can't heal what you won't reveal. 3. She can not and will not fight you for your healing. What that means is: She will not work harder than you do. However, she will be right there beside you as the two of you navigate your Mental Health journey together. 4. If you don't connect with her, that's okay. Don't be afraid to try someone new, and keep trying until you find the right fit. Shannon looks forward to working with you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. If we both agree that we are a fit to work together, we will create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. While everyone is unique. I've found that clients typically start making measurable progress after our first four sessions together. My goal is to ensure that every client has the tools they need to be their best, and to reach a point where they no longer need me. I strive to create a comfortable environment where you feel safe to be your true self. I'm here as trusted partner that you can confide in, but also as someone who will challenge you and help you grow. Homework in between sessions is a requirement. This includes worksheets, assessments journaling, etc... If you can not commit to completing homework assignments, I would not be the right therapist for you and wish you well on your therapeutic journey. It is my belief that once an individual understands the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, they will then be able to modify or change their pattern(s) of thinking to cope with stressors in a positive manner. I look forward to meeting you!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my biggest strengths in providing mental health services is that I really do listen and I really do care about the things you share with me. When you will tell me something in a session, weeks later I can and will remember the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the conversation. Also being a Nationally Certified Professional Mediator has helped me a great deal as a mental health provider. I am able to break down the layers of a situation or conflict with the goal of a positive outcome for everyone involved.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Adolescents, Teens, Adults, Families, Couples, Interracial Couples/Families, Blended Families... I enjoy working with anyone who is eager to improve their overall mental health, and is ready to learn the tools needed to make this goal a reality. General Expertise: Anger management, Caregiver stress & support, Communication issues, Couples counseling, Custody issues, Divorce & separation, Family issues, Loss, grief, and bereavement, Men's issues, Parenting, Premarital counseling, Relationship issues, Self-esteem, Stepfamily / Blended Family Issues, Women's issues Conflict resolution, Dating, Infidelity, Self-care, Commitment challenges.. I conduct intake sessions in which all parties can determine whether there is a good fit for treatment. These intake appointments are 30-50 minutes in length. I have found that a brief 10-minute consultation does not provide sufficient time to make an informed decision regarding fit or appropriateness of services. To prevent going back and forth when contacting our office to schedule an appointment: Please list all days and times you are available for an intake session , Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m Pacific Standard Time. Weekend intake sessions (Saturday and Sunday) are scheduled every other weekend from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Providing your full availability allows our scheduler to best align your schedule with ours. The more availability you share, the more likely our scheduler can get you scheduled for an intake appointment. Evening and Weekend appointments are highly requested and availability is not guaranteed. Please Note: At this time, I do not provide ADHD evaluations or ADHD- specific treatment. I want to ensure you receive the most appropriate care, and recommend working with a qualified ADHD. specialist.
