LMHC, 14 years of experience
My journey to counseling has been both personal and professional. Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly two decades working in the nonprofit world—helping people navigate challenges, systems, and life transitions. In my late 30s, I went back to school to earn my master’s degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University and became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I’ve been practicing since 2014, seeing clients in person through 2020 and virtually ever since. Along the way, I’ve experienced my own seasons of loss, grief, family challenges, and major life transitions—including surviving cancer. Those experiences gave me a deep respect for the courage it takes to ask for help and the strength required to keep moving forward. I bring that understanding into every session, creating a space that is compassionate, grounded, and genuinely human. I am licensed in both Florida and Vermont and currently offer virtual therapy for adult women who are navigating life transitions—whether building their careers, managing family responsibilities, or moving through midlife changes. I also work with clients who are struggling with symptoms like anxiety, depression, trauma, and challenges related to chronic illness. Outside of therapy, I host the Wicked Psychotherapists podcast, where I explore psychological topics through movies, pop culture, and real-world scenarios. I’m also a passionate gardener—both for fun and as a way to explore mindfulness, growth, and healing. I am licensed in both Florida and Vermont, and practice 100% virtual therapy.
My top priority is the therapeutic relationship. No approach or treatment method I use will be effective without first building trust and comfort. The first sessions focus on getting to know you, understanding your goals, and creating a safe space where you can be fully yourself. Clients can expect sessions that are supportive, empathetic, and relatable. While therapy can be challenging, I bring warmth, authenticity, and a sense of humor when appropriate, to make the work feel human and connected. Some clients are focused on learning coping strategies, while others want a space to explore their experiences with curiosity and understanding. Therapy is tailored to your needs, with the underlying goal always being the same: to feel truly seen and heard.
I bring both professional expertise and lived experience into therapy—resilience, authenticity, curiosity, and compassion. I know what it’s like to face life’s challenges, to grieve, to rebuild, and to grow, and I draw on both personal and professional experiences to help guide clients through their own journeys. I’m committed to ongoing learning, currently training in EMDR, and incorporate CBT, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and humanistic approaches into my work. I also enjoy integrating creative outlets, like gardening, as therapeutic tools for self-care and mental wellness.
My ideal clients are engaged, reflective, and ready to explore the parts of their lives that matter most. I work best with women who want a therapist that is empathetic, professional, and authentic, who will meet them where they are and walk alongside them as they navigate life’s transitions. While I enjoy working with a broad range of adult women, my practice does not currently serve minors, clients with active eating disorders, or those experiencing suicidal ideation.
I use an eclectic approach that combines Humanistic, CBT,Mindfulness, and other therapies. By drawing from a variety of therapeutic models, I can integrate the most effective techniques to support healing and growth. This flexibility helps me respond to the complexity of each client’s experience with a more personalized and holistic approach
With years of experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I’ve seen firsthand how effective it can be in helping clients break free from unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, and emotional distress. In my practice, I use CBT to help clients make meaningful connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we work on developing more balanced thinking, strengthening coping strategies, and challenging the negative beliefs that often keep people feeling stuck. Whether we’re addressing self-esteem, emotional regulation, or stress management, CBT offers a structured, evidence-based framework that empowers clients to actively participate in their healing and create lasting, meaningful change.
I use a strength-based approach in therapy because it focuses on clients’ existing resources, resilience, and capabilities rather than just their problems. This perspective helps empower clients by building confidence and reinforcing their sense of agency. By highlighting what’s working well, we can foster hope and support meaningful, lasting change.
I regularly incorporate mindfulness-based therapy into my practice as a powerful tool to help clients manage anxiety, depression, trauma, and emotional dysregulation. Over the years, I’ve seen how mindfulness can foster greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and the ability to respond—rather than react—to life’s challenges. I integrate techniques such as breathwork, grounding exercises, body scans, and present-moment awareness into sessions to help clients reconnect with themselves and create space between their thoughts and emotions. Whether used on its own or alongside CBT, DBT, or EMDR, mindfulness offers a calm, centered foundation that supports healing, insight, and lasting change.
Trauma-focused CBT is an evidence-based approach that helps clients process and make sense of traumatic experiences in a safe and structured way. It empowers clients to challenge unhelpful thoughts and develop coping skills to reduce trauma-related symptoms like anxiety and flashbacks. This approach promotes healing by helping clients regain control and build resilience after trauma.
