However, this is not my only role in life I am also a friend, partner, step parent which plays a role on who I am today and my personality. I believe my personality is very welcoming to others. I am friendly, a good listener, and empathetic, this has helped my approach in therapy as it eases the process of building rapport and setting an accepting environment. I was raised in the Christian home, with values and morals that now define who I am and have also helped my career; this including being humble, honest, respectful and caring.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

One of the approaches I like to utilize and find very effective is cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT teaches individuals how to understand the connection between thoughts, feelings and behavior. Utilizing the help of a psychotherapist, patients are able to identify cognitive distortions and replace these ideas with well-balanced ideas, and as a result change mood and behavior. I also enjoy utilizing other therapeutic approaches such as supportive therapy, in order to provide care, normalizing, encouragement and non-judgmental environment. Family systems is an approach I also enjoy when working with families and or couples in order to assess relationships, identify problematic behavior in order to increase positive interaction between members.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

It has been a common factor that many of this individuals lack of a good support system, healthy coping skills, and a specific plan to treat issues they are faced with. Understanding how different mental illnesses present in each individual has helped me provide the best treatment as I am integrating both the Individual’s personality and the symptoms that need to be targeted into one specific plan. Psychotherapy is a non-judgmental and safe environment that provides support, understanding and care for the patient. It’s understandable that at times is not easy to accept that help is needed. But one that first step is taken, individuals are one step forward towards positive change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My experience varies from working with individuals involved in domestic violence relationships, to also working with the children/other family members involved and the perpetrators. By providing education and the right tools to individuals, I am able to help process trauma, heal, and assist in creating a positive change. I also enjoy working with teenagers who are struggling with communication, acceptance and other issues. Working with couples can be at times challenging but it’s rewarding to change negative patterns and increase healthy communication. I have also worked with individuals in order to treat different diagnostics including anxiety, depression, bipolar among others.
