Welcome! I'm Adrian Valadez. I'm a License Clinical Social Worker based in California. I received my Masters from California State University, East Bay in 2008. With over 16 years of experience working with children, teens and families in both clinic and school-based settings. I listen to your needs and work with you to meet your goals. Working from a strength-based and compassionate approach, I use interactive discussions, art and play interventions, humor, mindfulness strategies, and support you in developing new tools and resources. It would be an honor to journey with you through your healing so that you find freedom and redefine ways of living a purposeful life.
We will use the first session to get to know each other. I will describe what counseling is and its purpose. I will get a greater understanding of your needs to begin to create a plan that will help us meet your goals. I believe that fit is a crucial part of developing a successful professional partnership. However, if we discover I am not the right fit for you, I am happy to help identify other resources that may be helpful.
I use compassion, understanding, and empathy to support the people I work with. I use both my personal and professional skills and knowledge to create change in the lives of the people I support. I have great listening skills. I offer my clients a safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental space.
I enjoy working with youth, adults and families that have taken that critical step to improve their lives. I love helping people to discover how to cultivate deeper inner awareness and concrete changes in their lives, especially when it feels like there is no hope or solutions.
Adrian Valadez offers therapy covered by CalViva Health (Medi-Cal), Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Community Health Plan of Imperial Valley (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Net (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
Understanding that early trauma can lead to guilt, anger, feelings of powerlessness, self-harm, acting out, depression, and anxiety, I have been using Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) for the past 10 years. Post-traumatic stress disorder, which affects children and adults, can manifest in a number of ways. We will use TF-CBT to help you develop a sense of safety and security, to repair or develop healthy social skills, and to increase your support system.
