New to Grow
I’m Leann Gonzalez, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. I offer whole-person care in a safe, transparent, and compassionate environment, honoring each client’s values, background, and lived experience. For clients who desire it, I integrate faith and spirituality into the therapeutic process in a respectful and client-led way. My work focuses on healing complex trauma, strengthening relationships, navigating family conflict, and supporting clients through life transitions. I combine evidence-based approaches with practical tools and thoughtful reflection to help clients grow emotionally, relationally, and—when aligned—spiritually. My goal is to walk alongside you with empathy and clarity as you move toward healing, balance, and meaningful change.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session is a gentle, supportive get-to-know-you conversation. You’re not expected to share everything at once or have the “right words.” We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I’ll ask open-ended questions to understand what’s bringing you to therapy and how it may be affecting your emotional well-being, relationships, work, and daily life. If relevant, we may also explore past experiences such as trauma, addiction, medical conditions, or significant life events—only as much as you feel ready to share. Toward the end of the session, we’ll begin identifying treatment goals together, helping create a clear and collaborative plan moving forward. The intention of this first meeting is for you to feel safe, heard, and supported as we begin the therapeutic process.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What distinguishes my work as a therapist is the way I bring both professional expertise and real-life perspective into the therapy space. Living with a chronic illness has shaped my understanding of resilience, uncertainty, and the emotional impact of long-term challenges. This lived experience deepens my empathy and allows me to meet clients with genuine compassion and understanding. As a devoted Christian, my faith informs my values of humility, grace, and respect for each person’s journey. When desired, I integrate faith thoughtfully and client-led, while always maintaining a non-judgmental, inclusive, and emotionally safe environment. I believe therapy is not about fixing people, but about walking alongside them. My approach emphasizes helping clients reach their own insights, strengthen self-trust, and develop clarity through reflection, curiosity, and practical support. Clients often describe my style as empathetic, grounded, and collaborative—focused on empowerment, not pressure.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Are you feeling helpless as you attempt to assist your loved one with their addiction or mental health condition? Is there a lot of tension and anger within your family? The constant arguments, belittling, fighting, and avoidance, and feeling emotionally disconnected is just too much to handle? My goal is to assist you and/or your family in developing warmth and care, good communication, predictability, and strong connections to others within your community. I will assist you in learning how to look after yourself so you can feel loved, safe, secure, and connected to those within your family. Let's work on a new approach together. I have dedicated the last decade in helping the most severe cases within the family system. I personally know what it's like to feel alone and lost growing up in an abusive home. The support of my faith and trusted people helped me to find my way. My life's mission is help you navigate your families challenges so you are hopeful and start truly living again. I look forward to helping you find solutions and ultimately peace within your life and family. Please feel free to reach me by phone or email. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Christian Counseling
As a Christian therapist, I provide holistic, client-centered care that honors the emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual dimensions of healing. My approach is rooted in a biblical worldview while remaining respectful of each client’s unique journey, values, and readiness to engage faith in the therapeutic process. I integrate evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities with family systems work to help clients understand patterns, heal from past wounds, and create meaningful, lasting change. Therapy is collaborative and tailored, with a strong emphasis on safety, compassion, and empowerment. For clients who desire it, I offer space to incorporate spiritual practices such as prayer, Scripture, and faith-based reflection as supportive tools in therapy. My goal is to walk alongside you with wisdom, grace, and clinical skill—helping you align your healing with your values, deepen self-understanding, and move toward wholeness.
Trauma Informed Care
I help clients safely explore and heal from childhood trauma while learning tools to feel more emotionally steady in daily life. We work on understanding how past experiences show up in current relationships, stress, and mental health, and develop practical skills like setting boundaries, communicating needs, managing stress, and building supportive community. The goal is healing that feels steady, empowering, and sustainable.
Family Therapy
My work is grounded in Bowen Family Systems Theory, focusing on how relational patterns influence emotions, communication, and behavior. I help clients increase self-awareness, develop healthy boundaries, resolve resentments, and build intentional agreements that support clarity, balance, and long-term relational health.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), a structured, evidence-based approach to help address chronic sleep difficulties. Treatment focuses on improving emotional regulation, developing coping tools, and fostering acceptance around sleeplessness so sleep can become less stressful and more restorative.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My work is grounded in person-centered and humanistic theory, emphasizing empathy, reflective listening, and open-ended exploration. I meet clients where they are and create a supportive, non-judgmental environment that encourages insight, autonomy, and personal growth.
