I’m Sakeenah Muhammad, a Black Muslim woman and licensed therapist in New Jersey with over 15 years of experience. I work primarily with women and individuals from marginalized communities, supporting them through relationship challenges, family dynamics, and parenting concerns. My approach is direct, compassionate, and tailored to each client, often using humor to make difficult conversations easier. Together, we’ll create a safe space where you can be heard, gain clarity, and develop practical tools to improve your relationships and family life. My goal is to empower you to make meaningful, lasting changes that align with your values and help you thrive.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we’ll get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions about your experiences, challenges, and goals, and we’ll discuss what you hope to achieve. This session is a chance for you to share your story in a safe, nonjudgmental space, and for us to start building a plan tailored to your needs. You can expect honesty, compassion, and sometimes a little humor as we navigate these conversations together. My goal is for you to leave feeling understood, supported, and with a sense of clarity about the next steps in your journey.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What stands out about my approach is that I’m direct and honest, and I don’t mind using humor to help lighten difficult moments. I take an eclectic approach, drawing from a variety of therapeutic methods so that our work together is tailored specifically to your needs. My goal is to help you gain clarity, build practical skills, and create meaningful change, all while making the process approachable and authentic.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am passionate about supporting women and individuals from marginalized communities. I work best with clients who are ready to explore personal growth, navigate life’s challenges, and create meaningful change. Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, or family dynamics, I aim to provide a safe, compassionate space where your experiences are understood and respected.
