Hello! My name is Ellen Silbert. I am a licensed therapist in Massachusetts. I have a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Penn State and a Masters degree in Social Work from New York University. I have been practicing for over 40 years. I have literally worked with populations from birth to death. I worked in the labor and delivery room with teen parents, adoptions, miscarriage and still birth. I've been a youth and family counselor, have an extensive medical background, worked with an elderly population, provide crisis intervention and have years of hospice care experience. I have had a private practice for 35 years. I provide a safe, trusting, confidential environment. Which helps you to feel comfortable to share thoughts, feelings to assist in working through life's complexities. I provide a non-judgmental environment which assists in working through your presenting issues. I am committed to my clients. I encourage contact from clients between sessions through the Grow portal messaging if needed. Please feel free to reach out on the Grow Portal's Booking page for a 15 minute consultation or a full intake session. Thanks so much for viewing my profile. I wish you all the best. Be good to yourself! Ellen Silbert, LICSW
I feel it is important to start our first session with the reasons that brought you to therapy. I start where you are at. I want you to take some techniques with you from the very beginning of our relationship to assist in coping with your presenting issues. We will unravel your past and history as we progress in our sessions. Our initial main goal is to begin to diminish your stress level and resolve the presenting issues bringing you to therapy.
My greatest strengths as a provider are the ability to engage with people and provide a safe trusting environment. I like to give people " a bag of tricks" suggestions on how to cope. Concrete ways of dealing with life's stressor.
Focusing on emotions and how they impact your life, work, family, relationships is key to learning how to balance all aspects of your life.
CBT is very helpful in learning how to cope with grief, anxiety and substance abuse. It helps to retrain your brain towards positive outlook and lifestyle.
I work with many people educating and supporting parenting skills. Parenting is one of the most important jobs there can be, yet who do we learn parenting skills from? Working closely with parents helps to support and educate parents through the changing stages of development of infancy through adolescence.
Diversity and acceptance is critical in our country. Each culture may have different beliefs and customs. It is imperative that all cultures and diversified are accepted with respect and abide by their individual cultural customs.
