LMHC, 17 years of experience
New to Grow
Hello! I have been a therapist for 17 years beginning in the field of social services and working my way to private practice. I have also trained several staff members in my private practice and work towards building a very hands on approach. I enjoy being involved in my clients life, as you allow me to, in order to figure things out. I enjoy the challenge it poses to the both of us to work through difficult topics and/or decisions as well. I aim to be a support but will always play the opposing side to make sure you trust yourself in the decisions you make because they were yours! Unbiased feedback is also part of this process and allows for more openness so we can go deeper. I pride myself on having a great rapport and retention with my clients.
My first session consist of some easy get to know your history questions. We will focus a bit on why you are coming to therapy and then get into your life. We will explore various life areas (job, school, family, etc) to build a picture of you that we can explore together.
I think I play devlis advocate very well. I also find myself to be excellent at challenging clients and not being afraid to call out flawed thinking with various examples from our sessions together. My goal is always aimed at making you understand your behaviors based on your thoughts and experiences.
My ideal client is the individual who is willing to do the work even when it feels bad. The person who challenges me to be a better therapist by finding ways to speak to them and get you to open up more. I love to delve into your life and my ideal client should be open to this as well. My ideal client can be cautious but curious enough to be open.
CBT is a great method to challenge our thoughts that can often dictate our emotional response. This is a great method for Anxiety and processing thoughts we may or may not recognize as serving us.
I enjoy doing couples as a way to help learn two individuals take a deeper look at things never discussed in a relationship. This is a great method to create more understanding.
Great method I have used to challenge clients sense of being and where they want to go.
