New to Grow
My name is Tobias Gale, and I specialize in mindfulness-based therapy and inner child work. It is my belief that supporting a client’s journey to living from greater authenticity and wholeness comes from acknowledging and affirming all parts of ourselves and taking loving actions that support our body, heart, and mind. We all need mentors and guides who understand what we’re going through and believe in our ability to heal and grow into our truest selves. My personal recovery, education and training, and work with adults struggling with mental health challenges and addiction has equipped me with the skills to effectively and compassionately support clients at any stage of their recovery process.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
I like to begin sessions with a mindfulness check-in, where I guide you in bringing a gentle and curious attentiveness to your present-moment experience. Not only does this help cultivate your own practice of mindfulness, which is invaluable for increasing self-awareness and your capacity for emotional self-regulation, but it also can provide direction and focus for the rest of our session. We might explore a current challenge in your life that is causing distress or delve into creative approaches for processing trauma and underlying dynamics, using guided visualization, gestalt therapy, or the expressive arts.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I’m inspired to help others because of the power and beauty that awoke in my life when I learned how to be in relationship to my Inner Child. I have extensive experience in recovery through 12-step and Inner Child Work, as well as a deep spiritual foundation, which is important to me and guides my work as a therapist. It allows me to be creative, inspired, and intuitive when working with clients.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have a passion for working with people who feel called to explore their inner world, who feel like there is something there for them to learn, but perhaps don’t know where to begin. They long to feel connected with themselves and others, but are needing guidance about how to get there. They want to uncover the heart of their issues and learn why they keep getting stuck in the same patterns. They want to experience the freedom of being their authentic selves and saying “yes” to what serves them.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I use mindfulness-based approaches with clients to help them gain more awareness of their internal experiences, increase their capacity to be present to uncomfortable or overwhelming feelings, and regulate their nervous system. This helps to make healthier decisions in our personal lives and interactions with others.
Gestalt
I use gestalt therapy to help clients become aware of the different parts that exist within themselves (e.g., inner child, inner teenager, inner addict, inner manager, etc.), which manifested as a result of trauma or adverse experiences. These inner parts often seek to help the client secure certain wants or needs, but in ways that are dysfunctional or unhealthy. In this approach, healing comes through coming into conscious relationship with these parts and reparenting ourselves with loving actions.
Transpersonal
Transpersonal therapy is a process of becoming aware of the spiritual dimension in our everyday lives, broadening our perspective on the spiritual meaning and symbolism in everyday occurrences, and learning how to be open to spiritual guidance.
