Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Illinois, and I am a virtual practice. I received my Masters from the Loyola University Chicago and have been in this industry for almost 20 years. I help young adults and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and childhood-trauma become the best versions of themselves. I very much like a positive and strength-based approach to therapy. I think it is important to find balance in your life and it starts with improving self-esteem.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Homework is not out of the question! Some clients tell me they feel like they have chatted with a friend, and also realize there has been growth in the conversation, and noticed they have tapped into all their strength.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having worked with women for the past 5 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with women who may be experiencing anxiety. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their careers, family, self-esteem, and relationships.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I try to use this as often as I can in my practice to engage clients in realizing they already have what's needed inside them. In collaboration with the client I try to help guide them back to the light they already have. The client is the expert in this treatment, and when working together we will set attainable goals to get them back to who they think they may have lost along the way.

Strength-Based

With this therapy modality I listen for strengths that the client may not even realize is there due to the overhanging issue. I began to show the client what I can see from my aerial view, so they can realize how powerful they are and can be.

I really enjoy my sessions with Kenya, she provides me with the necessary tools to see things that I need to work on for my own mental health and well being.

Talking to Kinya is like talking to someone you've known for years. She is very welcoming and makes you feel right at home! She doesn't just listen, she provides solutions as well.

Today's session was more than therapy, it was a soft unveiling of my soul that I held on to for so long. She didn't rush the process she invited it. Kinya didn't just hear me, she understood me. I was able to trace the language of my wounds back to their origin, and I felt lighter... not because the weight disappeared but because I finally realized I didn't have to carry it alone. It was therapy, yes but also Ministry.
