Meeting someone new maybe anxiety provoking, but starting therapy? That is truly a daunting task! You’ve made the first step by recognizing that maybe you should talk to someone. Now, all of these bios sound about the same. Which one to pick? How do you know which one will help you the most? You may be thinking, “oh, forget it, I just can’t make that decision right now.” Or, “I don’t want to sit for an hour and cry while I tell a total stranger my life’s story.” Or, “what if someone finds out that I’m not perfect. What if this person thinks I’m crazy and wants to lock me away forever?“ Or, “no one should have to live like I am right now! I’ve got to have some help. I want someone that has a lot of experience, someone that will relate to me, understand me, NOT judge me or my circumstances, and help me figure out this situation!“ And the answer to all those questions is me! I am here for you. I understand how you feel and I will not judge you. I will not shame you or make you feel guilty. It is my job to help you feel comfortable and at ease. It is my job to get you living and laughing again. I do laughter therapy! I promise to inspire you, empower you, to free you to live your best and happiest life. Life is too short to live depressed or anxious. Set up an appointment with me today and let’s get started. Oh, and by the way, I’ve been doing this for 20 years. I might know a thing or two! 😉
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
You will be welcomed warmly and, hopefully, comfortably like you have just walked in to your favorite safe place and found a good friend that makes you feel accepted, calm, and relieved.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
Everyone can benefit from a professional listener. Someone objective that can give you positive feedback and support. Sessions are always friendly and positive. I avoid psychobabble, so, I won’t say anything about cognitive behavioral therapy, Adlerian, Rogerian, with a multi resource modality, utilizing discussion augmented by music and videos. Here’s a bonus: sometimes Oprah jumps in and helps out!
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Enda Junkins, LCSW, Colorado produced videos of laughter therapy that I saw early in my career. She said, “if you can take your problems out and play with them, you can solve them.“ I will not laugh at you, but maybe we can find some humor together, build a therapeutic relationship of trust and rapport, so that you can trust me with anything and I will walk with you where you need to go.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have 24 years of experience as a mental health consultant in nursing homes, but I have really been enjoying telehealth with young adult populations.
