Hi. My name is Candance, but you can call me Candy. Do you feel as though you are being weighed down by certain thoughts and emotions, like you are out of balance? Is it difficult for you to manage your day to day responsibilities due to these thoughts and emotions? Would you like help in understanding and managing these thoughts and emotions so you can experience balance in your life? I help individuals get to that place of healthy balance, with a goal of remaining there. Together, we can work to identify your strengths and challenges to find solutions for managing your difficult thoughts and emotions. We will use a person centered and strength based approach, exploring past and present experiences as they relate to your current state of overall well-being. I also integrate mindfulness techniques to help you develop a stronger more balanced state of being. Whether you are dealing with circumstances, thoughts or feelings that are overwhelming, I want to help. Reaching out for help can feel uncomfortable or seem scary, but you are making the right choice. During our sessions together, I will meet you with genuine compassion using evidence-based techniques to help you achieve and remain in a healthy, more balanced state of being. Let’s do this.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, then work to identify the specific challenges you’re facing. This will allow us to collaborate in creating a tailored plan for us to work through during follow up sessions.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

In general, I use CBT, or Cognitive Behavior Therapy to assist you in understanding how your day to day thinking patterns can influence your overall functioning. It has been my professional and personal experience that CBT coupled with some mindfulness techniques can and will create a sense of hope and relief to allow you to achieve and remain in a healthy, more balanced state of being. On a more specialized level, I incorporate TF-CBT or Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and EMDR, with clients who have experienced traumatic events. Using TF-CBT, and EMDR helps clients understand how their experience with trauma can impact day to day functioning, and how learning and using healthy coping skills can mitigate the negative effects of trauma on overall functioning.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

When working with clients, it has been my experience utilizing a person-centered and strengths based approach can have immediate and long lasting positive results. Using a person centered approach allows both client and clinician to gain insight into the client’s perspective and perception of their life’s experiences, both positive and negative, while exploring how this influences the client’s current state of functioning. Using a strengths base approach allows both client and clinician to identify strengths and abilities the client can use to either change or enhance their current state of functioning, with the ultimate goal of achieving and maintaining a healthy, more balanced state of being.
