New to Grow
Hello and Welcome! My name is Cheryl and I'm excited you're here. Just a few things about me to help us get acquainted. I’m blessed to be mother to 3 sons, a four legged pup, and grandmother to 4. My interests include most anything that includes family, friends, nature, animals, learning, and serving. Taking a non traditional path to where I am first as an educator and then counselor, I’ve been fortunate to work with many wonderful people along the way and in varied ways from groups, families, couples, and Individuals. I've learned much along the way from each person I've partnered with on their journey to their best self. The most important thing I've learned through the twisting path I've taken individually, and with the client's I have served, is we are all unique and the key to happiness is finding it first in ourselves. I look forward to walking with you along your path to happiness!
Starting with our first session we will begin to envision your path forward through rapport building, exploring short and long term goals, and most importantly what happiness to you will look like.
My greatest strength as a provider is getting to know you and in turn finding the way to meet you where you are on your individual therapeutic journey. I believe in each individual as their own unique self and therefor, there is no one size fits all that creates the healing you are looking for; this is something we will discover together. My approach is eclectic, determined by your needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) or (TF-CBT) are foundational approaches used with all clients at times. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) are a few of the approaches used based on the needs of each person and the specific need in the moment we are in therapeutically. Using varied approaches allows for success in removing barriers presented during each session.
My ideal client is one that wants to partner with me to do the hard work to overcome the struggles or challenges creating barriers to their best self. Someone willing to take responsibility for creating change in their life by choosing to do the work together to remove the barriers in their present and allowing their happiness to be achieved.
Rather than pick one approach, I use the approach that best meets your needs. Each individual is in their own right, unique. This uniqueness means you shouldn’t be put into a box so together we will identify the way to best meet your needs for improved wellbeing.
EMDR is multi focused providing a non traditional therapeutic approach to decrease negative thought patterns and improve sense of self and functioning. I use EMDR to help clients with traumatic experience to move beyond the trauma without having to experience it again using this bio feedback therapy.
