I was in the United States Marine Corps from 1998-2003 and during this time I learned a great deal about myself and became more culturally diverse. During my third year of service, I was injured at Officers Candidate School and realized that I needed to develop my counseling skills, so I worked with an agency that counseled teens regarding their addiction. I have been in the social services field for the past twenty years and have been licensed for the past 10 years. When I got out of the Marines in 2003, I went home to North Carolina and my father passed away three days later unexpectedly so, I needed a job and I was able to use my previous years working with teens and became a supervisor at Sipes Orchard Home took in unwanted children from parents, Level II and Level IV agencies, and the Department of Children and Families. After being here at this facility for two years I left as they weren't following the Medicaid standards. I left the agency and went to work for The Cognitive Connection as the Prevention Supervisor providing preventive services for teens and was part of the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) providing groups to adults. I worked with Cognitive Connection for three years and left to go to Pensacola, Florida because I had heard they were starting a MSW program. I felt hopeful as I knew getting my master’s in social work would change my life forever. After I finished the MSW program I immediately started working for Lakeview Services in Adult Outpatient Community Mental Health and then worked in the Drug Court program. I stayed here for three years until I got a job with the DoD in Oklahoma because my wife was trying to get a federal job, so I moved to support her and my family. While working with the DoD I was able to get my supervision for licensing, created an anger management program for the DoD, and stayed until my LCSW license was finalized in December of 2013. When I came back to Florida I worked for Volunteers of America for a couple of years until a federal job opened at Veterans Affairs in Pensacola, FL, in August of 2016. I have been licensed in Florida for the past 10 years, recently became licensed in Texas and Oklahoma. I have some clients who are in therapy with me for several weeks to several months depending on their individual needs. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

Hello, I am Shari. Are you looking for someone you can feel safe to address your needs and not feel judged? Are you looking for someone authentic and supportive? Are you having difficulty finding someone who will be honest and direct? I work well with anyone who is motivated to start addressing their concerns right away. I believe finding the right therapist can be challenging, but it should not be a barrier to getting help. Finding a therapist should feel comfortable and natural. I am told I have a way of helping people feel as if they have known me before. I like to get an understanding of the source of your problem. Then together we explore how the source influences your thinking. People live life through their experiences which do not always serve us very well in today's time. I also believe in working from a holistic approach. Did you know our daily routines can prolong your recovery or cause mental instability? I have experienced being in a therapeutic relationship and believe in normalizing the need to get help in this way.

Hello Friend! Everyone at one point or another will find themselves dealing with a host of unbearable stressors, as if weighed down. We may even describe the feeling as 'lost in a web of frustration'. Some may describe that sense of being as anxious, fatigue, or sadness, as if our unique threshold is completely depleted. But did you know feeling anxiousness is normal? Many would not know that feeling stress is actually a sense of determination for control and feeling tired is just temporary. Anxiousness is innate in all of us to escape danger. What's not healthy is when the stressors has crossed the threshold to what feels comfortable and interrupts our daily habits/responsibilities. But how do we 'fix things' when all we want is to be alone? When life throws us lemons, make lemonade? As simple as finding a helper - me. I’ll help you navigate the web of confusion to find YOUR empowerment. My journey began as a young child whose home was a host of struggles/abuse which later became insight into the struggles others experience. I found a well-regarded psychotherapist who helped me learn life-long cognitive tools. Later, as a psychotherapist in a clinical setting, I garnered a vast amount of knowledge which helped me to specialize in various modalities of treatment. Proper psychotherapists should emphasize there is no such thing as "the magic pill" and most treatments don't require medication. I hold a high standard for clients' rights as a mental health advocate with a high standard for myself. I serve all slices of society including those dealing with depression, grief, anxiety, relationship issues, past trauma, adjustment, chronic health and other issues. Together, we can identify what's not working for you. We will find solutions you innately use and form goals that do NOT require much change in your life.

Hello! I am a Doctor of Marriage & Family Therapy and currently a Licensed Professional Counselor. I currently have 8 years of counseling/clinical experience. As a LPC, my style is warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate. I use a mix of solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, and person-centered therapies. I aim to make clients feel comfortable and at ease while being attentive and open. I specialize in both outpatient and inpatient services treating military/veteran populations, PTSD/trauma, substance abuse disorders and addiction, co-occurring disorders, anxiety/depression/stress, ADHD, sports psychology and performance anxiety with student/professional athletes, and family/couples/relational and intimate relationships. Additionally, I have specialized experience in conducting clinical assessments of substance abuse patients, formulating behavioral health treatment plans, providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients, treating psychological conditions associated with medical complications, performing biopsychosocial/psychological evaluations of clients, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychotherapy for adolescents, teenagers, adults, couples, and family populations. There are countless theories, modalities, and orientations in the therapy world. This can be very confusing for those who simply are unsure what fits them. My biggest takeaway from this journey of mine is that it is not so much about a theory but rather active listening, creating context, and simply being there with the individual(s) looking for different perspectives to help guide a client to move forward is really what therapy is all about. I look forward to guiding you on your journey of faith, hope and wellness!

Hi there, I'm Tonya. Do you feel like you need someone to talk to but feel like no one understands you? Carl Rogers said, “We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. I am committed to creating a space where the client feels seen and heard. I have a unique counseling style that allows clients to quickly engage in the therapeutic process. Helping clients find a deeper understanding of themselves is my focus. I guide the client through their journey of self-awareness with cognitive restructuring combined with a person-centered approach. Do you feel overwhelmed and mentally depleted? Our thoughts, emotions, and behavior are guided by our internal compass. Sometimes we need to check our compass and make sure we are going in the right direction. This internal compass is the lens through which we see ourselves, and the world and influences our decisions. A shift in the thought process opens the door for healing and clarity of thought. I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can gain the self-awareness you need to work through your struggles and move forward with your life. Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Texas and California. I am also a Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider in Texas. I completed graduate school at Texas A&M in Corpus Christi, TX. During internship and after graduation I worked with primarily adults undergoing major life changes. From Emerging Adults (18-25-ish) learning how to navigate the new expectations they are facing, mid-life changes including sexuality, children, careers, relationship types, and all the chaos of life, to end of life decisions and stresses as parents pass on, retirement choices have to be made, grandchildren raised, disease, and loss of friends and family. For persons who have spent part of their lives in jails and prisons, navigating the world that changed while you were not active in it is often difficult, helping you take those steps to understanding your new normal is my privilege.

Hello, Welcome to my private practice. My fundamental approach to therapy is person-centered and based on solution-focused methods. I endeavor to provide a safe place for you to feel seen and heard. Together we will explore and learn about your deepest inner world. We will examine your current ways of coping and explore how to transform them to better serve your needs here and now. I can help you uncover the impediments to effectively dealing with the challenges that life can bring and consider alternative approaches that serve you better. On the whole, I see my role as being your guide in helping you identify the optimal and least disruptive path to your answers and your solutions. A guide is not just a fellow traveler – I will occasionally confront and disagree with you – but ultimately it is your path and your goal which I am privileged to witness and, at times, partake. On any fruitful journey, collaboration will be essential, and I am always joyful to begin our trek. I will place my trust in you as you do in me. My ultimate goal is to help you gain the self-esteem and self-compassion necessary to nurture strong and healthy relationships with those you care about in your personal and work life. Significant relationships are subtly re-negotiated every day and I believe no relationship is more important than your relationship with yourself.

If you are new to therapy or returning, we all encounter times in life when we may find a need for non-judgmental support to navigate our challenges. This might be to work through, understand or resolve past, present or connected issues. I encourage women and men to talk about their strengths and barriers. This may involve cognitive processing to help uncover contributing factors to anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation, unsatisfying relationships, unmet goals and communication breakdowns. I incorporate appropriate skills and ways to help you to recognize and respond to your feelings. For over 20 years I have been working with a diverse population of adults in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. A little about me, I grew up in northern CA, attended college in France and Colorado. I owned a one-woman business in Silicon Valley for 10 years. I love most animals and I enjoy researching topics on health and mental health connections.

Do you constantly question yourself? Think nothing will ever work out? Are you always angry and lose your temper over little things? Never trust anyone? These can all symptoms of trauma, which influence so many areas of your life. Are you tired of running from difficult memories and pushing people away? If so, I am ready to hear your story and begin the healing process with you. Have you struggled with talk therapy in the past? Have trouble putting thoughts and feelings into words? I use a combination of Expressive Arts Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy. You do not need to be an artist to participate. Expressive Arts are simply any form of artistic expression. Some examples are: painting, drawing, scribbling, poetry, journaling, collage, music.....so many different options. You are not alone in your journey. There is hope. Cognitive Processing Therapy is an evidenced-based treatment. Including Expressive Arts Therapy gives a non-verbal platform for expressing difficult memories and emotions.
