Hello, my name is Lana Amawi, MSSA, LISW, CEC and I have over 25 years of experience in mental health across various multidisciplinary settings as well as clinical research. I am an Ohio state licensed Clinical Therapist and Social Worker who has been working in private practice for the last 20 years. Psychological Counseling Solutions was established in 2008 and more recently Coaching & Consultation Solutions. One of Lana's niche populations are the medical and dental healthcare warriors around the world. My multicultural experiences and fluency in Arabic, helped start my career at the Menninger Clinic (Topeka, KS), followed by Henry Ford Behavioral Health, and Arab American & Chaldean Council (both in Detroit). I continue to be Cleveland liaison for NuDay Syria, a nonprofit humanitarian organization based in New Hampshire. I continue to be a resource and advocate for refugee resettlement and offer counseling and therapy for those who witnessed and experienced trauma due to the civil war in Syria. I still have great connections to Syria, as my parents were raised in Damascus and immigrated after graduating from medical school. I still have family in Syria as well as Jordan, KSA, Canada and of course Kansas City where my immediate family reside.

I am a licensed professional clinical counselor. I have been counseling for over 15 years. I find happiness and joy in helping people move beyond what they think is possible. I am sensitive, compassionate, empathetic, and very non-judgmental. I have over twenty five years of social work experience, most of my years of experience are in a clinical setting combined with both clinical and supervisory and administrative duties. I have successfully completed both a Bachelor in Social Work and a Master in Social Work from Rutgers University, specializing in direct practice with children and families and a MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University with a focus on healthcare.

I have been practicing as a clinical social worker for over thirty years and I have never gotten bored or tired or even considered doing anything else. I am originally from New York State and got my bachelor's degree in English literature at NYU. I took some time off to travel and then settled in Houston, Texas and got my master's degree from the University of Houston. I had extensive psychoanalysis to heal my own wounds prior to becoming a therapist and, after being licensed, I became a therapist, then clinical director, of a psychiatric day treatment center. After about seven years I opened my own private practice office where I saw clients in the evening and, during the daytime, I saw clients who were referred to me for treatment in several independent living and nursing facilities, and at a residential treatment center for adults with schizophrenia and other major mental illness. Since coming to Ohio five years ago I have been in private practice and signed up with Grow Therapy in August of 2023.
