While there are commonalities to any mental health diagnosis, I also believe each person has their own individual experience and honor that in treatment. I have experience working with those diagnosed with eating disorders and currently treat those at an outpatient level of care. Hi! I’m Sophie, a LMHC in the state of Florida and a LPCC in Ohio. My goal is to be a level sounding board and safe place for you. I work collaboratively with my clients to meet their goals. It is so important to feel heard and validated. My hope is to provide that for you. I hope to make you feel empowered through our work together. I know it is not always easy to ask for help. It is very brave that you are here doing so! I received a BA in Psychology and a M.Ed. in rehabilitation counseling and mental health counseling from FAU. I love working with all people. My interests include: mood disorders, anxiety, OCD, chronic pain, fertility issues/women’s health, relationship/family issues and trauma. I have chosen to work virtually moving forward and dedicate my time to my private practice. I love to help people and I would love to see if we would be a good fit to work together!

I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from Portland State University and have practiced in the areas of adults, children & families, couples, and geriatrics for nearly 20 years. I focus on working with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, & grief. I have substantial experience working with binge-eating disorder, geriatrics, substance use, sexual abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, and suicide. I developed my clinical experience at Vitas Healthcare (hospice), the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and other agencies both in the United States and the United Kingdom.

I have been practicing as a clinical social worker for over thirty years and I have never gotten bored or tired or even considered doing anything else. I am originally from New York State and got my bachelor's degree in English literature at NYU. I took some time off to travel and then settled in Houston, Texas and got my master's degree from the University of Houston. I had extensive psychoanalysis to heal my own wounds prior to becoming a therapist and, after being licensed, I became a therapist, then clinical director, of a psychiatric day treatment center. After about seven years I opened my own private practice office where I saw clients in the evening and, during the daytime, I saw clients who were referred to me for treatment in several independent living and nursing facilities, and at a residential treatment center for adults with schizophrenia and other major mental illness. Since coming to Ohio five years ago I have been in private practice and signed up with Grow Therapy in August of 2023.

I am licensed in Ohio with 7 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence, & depression. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

I believe counseling is a holistic effort between the therapist and the people seeking services. I believe each person deserves respect and guidance on their individual journey.
