Hi! I'm Leyla. Welcome. I am glad you're here. Are you sick and tired of existing in a capitalistic hellscape?? The pain inside of you is reflective of the collective chaos outside of you. Your feelings are valid. 🫂 If this resonates with you, look no further. Your anti-capitalist therapist is here. I believe that healing as individuals requires recognition of the trauma of structural oppression and dominance. With this in mind, I center anti-racist + anti-oppressive, LGBTQIA+-affirming, disability justice, and intersectional feminist values into my practice. I reflect on and recognize the privileges I hold and how these have assisted me in navigating the world. The lens I look through may be of interest to you. I am a second generation immigrant settler from Lebanon/Sweden. I am Autistic, ADHD and a survivor. I am mostly able-bodied and live with chronic illness. I am cis-gender and queer. I am a Person of the Global Majority (PoGM). I live in the colonized portion of Wabanaki territory now known as Mount Desert Island, Maine. My work is through an Intersectionality-focused lens with folx with many neurotypes. My clients are Autistic, ADHD, trauma survivors, queer folx who may experience obsessive thinking, executive dysfunction and relationship conflict. My clients are highly intellectual + self-reflective. I mesh well with symbolic thinkers who are interested in understanding themselves and how their early childhood experiences shaped their relational patterns today. I work with "Talented & Gifted burn-out kids" who are ready to fully un-mask and break the cycle of generational trauma.

Hello, I am an experienced clinical trauma professional who engages in a holistic mind, body, and spirit approach in my work with racially, economically, sexually, and culturally diverse persons. As a licensed clinical social worker, clinical trauma professional, and mental health integrative medicine professional, I focus on the clients as people, not as conditions or as diagnoses. In working with chronically and complexly traumatized individuals, couples, and families I recognize and interact with clients affirming that they are deserving of empathy, respect, and dignity. To this end, the treatment methods I use are tailored and combined to meet the needs of each specific individual, couple, and family I work with. I counsel clients who are struggling with traumatic stress disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, problem behaviors, and addictive behaviors. The healing journey intentionally addresses the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. Evidenced-based traditional, holistic, and expressively creative client-centered therapeutic processes and interventions are used to help clients overcome limiting, self-defeating thoughts & feelings about self-worth, relationships, and patterns of choices that lead to dysfunctional behaviors. Clients learn to manage the underlying issues that interfere with family, social, vocational, or educational functioning.

For over 19 years, I have been empowering individuals to live their best lives while coping with difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, medical concerns, and infertility. I have a variety of personal and professional experiences that contribute to the development of my empathy, understanding, and relatability. I began my career working with traumatized children in the child welfare system. Since then I have worked with a variety of trauma victims including sexual abuse survivors, adults with child abuse histories, and domestic violence victims. I love helping individuals with trauma make peace with their trauma. I, also, have worked with many individuals who need help finding motivation to move forward. Whether you're a young adult confused about what to do next, an individual struggling with depression or grief coping with discouragement, or a person with anxiety afraid to make changes, I can assist you in making steps to move forward in your life. In addition, I have counseled many individuals struggling emotionally due to chronic medical conditions. I am a cancer survivor; therefore I am extremely passionate about helping others cope with medical conditions, chronic pain, and infertility. I work hard to be culturally competent. I love to travel and have visited (and lived) all over the world; therefore, I am familiar with working with people of difficult cultures and backgrounds I understand starting counseling can be very “nerve-racking.” I will try to make it as comfortable as possible. My counseling style is warm, patient, and client-centered. I encourage my clients to develop their own goals and areas of focus, but I am always there to help guide them. Also, I am very logical and insight-oriented. My clients often comment that I have helped them develop new understandings and perspectives. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
