I’ve been in the nursing profession since 1997, starting my career as a licensed practical nurse and advanced my career to current Master's Degree Nurse Practitioner. Helping others is a core belief and passion. My nursing and professional background experience includes some not all: addiction medicine, Eating Disorders, mental health stabilization and labor and delivery/postpartum care. My approach to treatment and care focuses on preventative, safe, holistic and inclusionary care.

I know that the healthcare field is a calling, and one of my life missions is to impact others positively. I went explicitly into psychiatry because, during high school I felt there were only a few subjects I could apply to everyday life. Everything starts with the mind, and as the famous quote states, “I think therefore I am.” First are the thoughts, whether conscious or unconscious, then feelings, i.e., emotions, and then actions. Thoughts, feelings, and actions encompass our daily lives and must be in harmony or as close to balance for everyone in order for us to live up to our full potential. I have worked as a certified nurse assistant and understand the necessity of working hard to provide for myself and my family. In addition, I have worked as a registered nurse in the hospital setting helping to heal those who have suffered from heart attacks, strokes, amputations, blindness, diabetes, sickle cell, cancer, motor vehicle accidents, etc. With this acquired experience, knowledge and understanding I have concluded that life is fragile. Thus, it is important to live each day to the best of our ability. Uniquely, I have been a family nurse practitioner and worked in primary care and urgent care. Thus, I understand and can treat hypertension, diabetes, back pain, hypothyroidism, common skin conditions, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, and much more. I specialize in psychiatry and see patients 18 years and older. Initial visits are one hour, and follow-up appointments are a half hour. This reduces the need to rush and allows us to be as comprehensive as possible to provide the best mental health care possible. The goal and vision are to work with you and to establish a positive relationship in which I recommend various treatments. Still, it’s done in partnership and collaboration to assist you with becoming the best version of yourself. It would be my privilege and honor to serve as your mental health provider. Hello, I am a Licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Adult Gerontology Primary care Nurse Practitioner with 8 years experience. I originally did not plan to work in health care as a young man growing up. As a child my parents moved my twin brother and I up in the mountains in Idaho to live off the land and grid. We had lots of chores tending to animals, gardens, some foraging from the forest. I have traveled/lived as a young adult to South America and Mexico gaining a greater appreciation for all that we have in life. Pursued my undergraduate degree in Biology, then life changed a bit and moved back to Florida to live and care give for my grandparents. Living with my grandparents started my journey into healthcare. My grandmother had dementia and I became her live in personal care giver. Eventually we had hospice for her and I witnessed my grandmother pass in her own bed, which was always her request and of course a very significant sad event in my life. During this time I was in nursing school, eventually earned a degree in nursing, worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa for 8 years in the ICU, some ER and PACU. I have experienced many encounters of family members with their loved ones at the bedside in ICU making life and death decisions. I have worked sided by side with palliative care and Hospice understanding, empathizing with the families perspective related to end of life issue. Those experiences have had a significant impact on how I practice today, specifically working with dementia patients at home as outpatient or institutional patients. As well as better able to understand the patients perspective with other common mental illnesses.
