I am happy to help others heal from trauma, learn to cope with mood swings, changes in their lives, anxiety and anger, and help people find meaning and hope in life again. I have been a therapist for over 15 years and have experience with different ages and backgrounds - people make a beautiful tapestry through their similarities and their differences. I believe everyone can achieve balance in their lives if they learn how to cope with whatever is causing stress and distress. I became a therapist because I love to help people feel better; mental health disorders are on both sides of my family, and I have first-hand knowledge of mood disorders. My specialties are anger, anxiety, depression, and adjusting to change. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as the main technique - what we think determines what we feel and how we act and react to others and the world around us. When you can control or change what you think, your life can improve. I use other techniques such as Solution Focused Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. The first session will be to gather information about you and what has been going on to bring you into therapy. You can expect a non-judgmental and relaxed conversation to begin building a therapeutic relationship with me. Trust is something that will build at each session, so sessions will become more relaxed and focused every time we meet. If you have anxiety prior to the first session, remind yourself of why you made the appointment, and how much better you can feel through therapy!

Hi everyone! I'm Josh. Do you struggle with social anxiety and poor self-confidence? I know that overcoming it is possible! Many come to therapy because of childhood trauma and how it has manifested in their adult lives. Often this manifests in feelings of poor self-confidence, self-worth, and social anxiety. At its root, the fundamental belief of those who have social anxiety is the belief, “I am not enough.” Clients get into the habit of comparing themselves to others and it makes them feel inadequate and insecure. Over time clients begin to avoid situations that elicit their anxiety, particularly social situations. This can lead to social isolation and loneliness. Clients will present with complaints of frequent panic attacks, not having a romantic partner, not having friends, not being happy in their jobs and feeling disconnected from life. They are labeled by others as shy, quiet, or introverted. This scenario described myself for much of my life which gives me lived experience to better able to assist you. I help individuals combat their social fears and begin to live a rich and fulfulling life. I do this through cognitive behavioral therapy techniques primarily but also integrate solution-focused therapy, assertiveness training, exposure therapy, and acceptance & commitment therapy. Whether you're a teen struggling to make friends and socialize or you are an adult unable to speak up at work meetings or unable to ask someone out on a date, I'm here for you! Seeking therapy can be frightening but I want to assure you that you will be most welcome if you take that leap of faith!

Is something inside of you saying that it’s time for a change? Personal growth and development start with a desire and a willingness to try something new. I often tell my clients that the most important part of therapy is the relationship between them and their therapist. Sometimes it takes a few tries but don’t give up before the magic happens; the best investment you can make is in yourself. I survived childhood cancer and have overcome many obstacles in my life which left me with a unique perspective that emphasizes post-traumatic growth. As a second-generation meditation practitioner, with a Bachelor’s degree in Contemplative psychology, a Master’s degree in social work, and an almost 20-year background as a licensed nurse, I emphasize a holistic approach and understand the importance of the mind-body connection. I bring a deep sense of presence to my work and I will hold a safe and sacred space for you to be fully seen, heard, accepted, and supported just as you are. My philosophy is that people are the experts in their own lives and that therapy is not so much about giving advice, but more so about acting as a mirror to gently guide individuals to find what they are seeking from within. Together we will identify your dreams and goals and work through any blockages so that you can learn how to take care of yourself and thrive. I invite you to experience this state of being by beginning the journey of self-worth, healing, and exponential growth.

I have experience with individuals, couples, and families. Some of my primary areas of expertise are family and relationship conflict, intimacy related issues and difficulty with various life changes and transitions. It is important to have a strong therapeutic relationship with your therapist and to feel that they are a good match for you. I want you to feel that therapy is a safe and non-judgmental place to share your thoughts, and feelings. My name is John A. Llauget. I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University and an Educational Specialist Degree in Counseling from University of South Florida. My career in mental health in 1977 working in a psychiatric hospital; and later as a outpatient therapist in a community mental health center working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. I was licensed in Florida in 1986 as a Mental Health Counselor and have maintained my license since that date. Also I have worked as an employee assistance counselor, school counselor, associate professor at an international university, and court evaluator for guardianship cases. For 20 years I worked as a cancer counselor with oncology clients helping them cope with illness, stress, and emotional distress. Additionally I have maintained a practice and interest in Traditional Okinawan Uechi-Ryu, earning a Masters rank in that system of training. I have used martial training with children & adolescents to develop self-control and self esteem. Later when I began working with an elderly population and clients dealing with physical limitations, I taught Qigong and Mindfulness Meditation as a way to improve their health, well-being, and cope with stress. My therapeutic style centers around getting to know a client, develop trust, and talking more explicitly about issues before making any recommendations. I am a strong advocate of evidence-based treatments and teaching ‘tools’ to cope with stress and emotional difficulties. I have gained training in trauma treatment because we now know that it is prevalent in our life experiences. I value compassion, persistence, and patience in working towards change. I look forward to working with you. I also value your time and want to use it productively in assisting you to reach your therapeutic goals.
