Hello! I'm Jim, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed in both Florida and Connecticut. I'd like to support you in building the life you imagine! Life can be happy, joyous, and fulfilling. However, life can also be challenging at times. Challenges may involve external situations which we're currently facing, they may be internal struggles involving our feelings and thoughts, or both. During these challenging times, it is often beneficial to work with an empathetic, supportive, and knowledgeable therapist who will assist you in taking the steps necessary to deal with such challenges effectively and move forward with your life. I have 14 years of experience as a therapist working with adolescents, adults, and seniors dealing with a variety of issues. I have worked as a therapist in a nonprofit outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment agency, treating clients with depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. As a primary therapist in an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility, I have supported clients as they begin their journeys of sobriety and recovery. I have also assisted patients and family members facing end-of-life issues as a home hospice social worker.

I am happy to help others heal from trauma, learn to cope with mood swings, changes in their lives, anxiety and anger, and help people find meaning and hope in life again. I have been a therapist for over 15 years and have experience with different ages and backgrounds - people make a beautiful tapestry through their similarities and their differences. I believe everyone can achieve balance in their lives if they learn how to cope with whatever is causing stress and distress. I became a therapist because I love to help people feel better; mental health disorders are on both sides of my family, and I have first-hand knowledge of mood disorders. My specialties are anger, anxiety, depression, and adjusting to change. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as the main technique - what we think determines what we feel and how we act and react to others and the world around us. When you can control or change what you think, your life can improve. I use other techniques such as Solution Focused Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. The first session will be to gather information about you and what has been going on to bring you into therapy. You can expect a non-judgmental and relaxed conversation to begin building a therapeutic relationship with me. Trust is something that will build at each session, so sessions will become more relaxed and focused every time we meet. If you have anxiety prior to the first session, remind yourself of why you made the appointment, and how much better you can feel through therapy!

There are so many messages that you’ve probably lived with growing up that don’t work for you anymore. Messages that make it hard to be present, to get things done, or make you feel like you're in "survival mode". Maybe you’re expected to move on from some hard times – or hard losses. Or maybe you’ve always had to be the “Perfect One”, the “Black Sheep” or the “Silent One” in your family. But there’s so much more to you than your struggles or the labels that have been placed on you. You don't have to live life feeling overwhelmed with negative thoughts, numbness, or expectations every day. You deserve to live authentically. You should speak to a counselor who recognizes that there is tremendous beauty to the person you are already. Your blood is of rich ancestry, heritage, triumphs and identity. I already know you have all the tools you need to live more mindfully. Every now and then we may all just need the support to see it. Let's talk!

Michele created the motto “ME In Detail” to help facilitate your own personal soul-care healing and growth movement because “YOU are worth it!” When you take your leap with the “ME In Detail" motto, you are informing yourself and the universe that YOU are ready to own your life in full detail. Michele understands that the journey of healing is a unique experience for each individual that requires time, spaciousness, and gentle support. What makes taking your own leap of faith with Michele different is that she has and continues to do the “in detailed” self-work herself. I was recruited into a cult during my freshman year of college. It was the worst thing that ever happened to me, but it was also the best thing that ever happened to me, because it made me who I am today. My experience inspired the type of issues that I am passionate about working with: 1. TRAUMA/PTSD. This includes all types of trauma (physical, emotional, psychological) and residual trauma symptoms (OCD, anxiety, depression). 2. SELF and RELATIONSHIP ISSUES, including: a. CODEPENDENCY (i.e. people pleasing, inability to say no, fear of upsetting others, lack of assertiveness, chronic feelings of obligation). b. PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE (manipulative friends, family, romantic partners, controlling relationships, cults, abusive churches, workplace bullying, hazing, sexual coercion, undue influence, toxic people of all kinds). c. IDENTITY CONCERNS (i.e. Narcissism, DID, Former Cult Members, lack of purpose/identity, career and higher education concerns). 3. SLEEP ISSUES: Chronic Insomnia, Nightmare Management, and help with CPAP/Obstructive Sleep Apnea challenges. I also enjoy doing dream interpretation. Do any of these describe you or your situation? If so, I'd love to meet you and talk about how we can work together to overcome your struggles. Feel free to browse through my profile and if you feel so inclined, make an appointment so we can work toward restoring balance to your world again. PLEASE NOTE: Individual adults only (18+). I do not work with minors or couples. Please be sure to complete the Intake Form before our first appointment. Failure to do so will require us to spend our first session completing it together.

Our work will be geared toward achieving a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. I approach therapy from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, meaning thoughts and beliefs that are interfering with functioning need to be addressed and appropriately changed and/or reorganized for better mental health. Building great relationships is one of the most meaningful aspects of life. Hello perspective client! My name is Ruthie Doles and I hail from the central west coast of Florida. I am that rare Florida native who resides in the same area where I was born and raised. I’m in phase 2 of my work life. I retired from Pinellas County Government in 2017, where I worked as the manager of the county’s 911 Center for over 32 years. The daily human tragedies 911 dispatchers handle can be very stressful, but I found the personal stories of my employees much more compelling. My work as the 911 Center manager inspired me to become a therapist. I earned a BA in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from University of South Florida in 2009 and obtained a Master’s in Social Work from the University of New England in 2016. I proudly became a licensed therapist in 2020, one good thing that occurred during the Covid pandemic. In my graduate program, I learned that all human behavior develops in the context of relationships. Family relationships are most significant to individual growth. The importance of healthy relationships in a successful life is often underestimated. The value of independence in our society overshadows our human need for connections. The quality of our family, friends, romantic, work and community connections impact our physical, mental and emotional health. Positive interactions promote feelings of connectedness and a sense of self-worth while negative encounters can lead to increased anxiety, a lack of self-confidence, and may even affect your thinking abilities. My primary practice approach is relational, using interventions that can help you understand the link between your thoughts, feelings and actions and the effect on your relationships. This will improve your ability to connect with others in ways that will enhance your life. I want to support you to have the loving, fulfilling, respectful relationships you deserve.
