I thank you for taking the time to read my bio. I have worked in health care since January 2006. I know that the healthcare field is a calling, and one of my life missions is to impact others positively. I went explicitly into psychiatry because, during high school I felt there were only a few subjects I could apply to everyday life. Everything starts with the mind, and as the famous quote states, “I think therefore I am.” First are the thoughts, whether conscious or unconscious, then feelings, i.e., emotions, and then actions. Thoughts, feelings, and actions encompass our daily lives and must be in harmony or as close to balance for everyone in order for us to live up to our full potential. I have worked as a certified nurse assistant and understand the necessity of working hard to provide for myself and my family. In addition, I have worked as a registered nurse in the hospital setting helping to heal those who have suffered from heart attacks, strokes, amputations, blindness, diabetes, sickle cell, cancer, motor vehicle accidents, etc. With this acquired experience, knowledge and understanding I have concluded that life is fragile. Thus, it is important to live each day to the best of our ability. Uniquely, I have been a family nurse practitioner and worked in primary care and urgent care. Thus, I understand and can treat hypertension, diabetes, back pain, hypothyroidism, common skin conditions, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, and much more. I specialize in psychiatry and see patients 18 years and older. Initial visits are one hour, and follow-up appointments are a half hour. This reduces the need to rush and allows us to be as comprehensive as possible to provide the best mental health care possible. The goal and vision are to work with you and to establish a positive relationship in which I recommend various treatments. Still, it’s done in partnership and collaboration to assist you with becoming the best version of yourself. It would be my privilege and honor to serve as your mental health provider. Tamara is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health and Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been practicing in healthcare since 2005 starting as a RN up to most recently completing a Post Masters Psychiatric Certification at the University of Miami. Her career as a nurse practitioner spans over Quick care clinics, Primary care, Urgent care, Substance abuse treatment, and the treatment of multiple mental illnesses. Tamara is confident that she can support you on your journey to gain new perspectives and techniques that allow you to cope with whatever you may be struggling with.

I am a nationally board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with extensive experiencing working with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, serious mental illness, and addiction. My interest in mental health started early when an immediate family member was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. My professional and personal experiences have made me passionate about supporting clients in their journey toward mental wellness. I will provide you with a holistic, non-judgmental approach and meet you where you are in your specific mental health journey. I provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy to treat a wide range of mental health issues. I work collaboratively with clients to devise a unique, personalized plan of care. Please allow me to help you navigate your mental health struggles.

Natasha Vernon, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC Natasha Vernon is the owner of Sunshine Behavioral & Mental Health Center, LLC. She is a dually certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric nurse practitioner. She earned her master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2016 and post master’s life span psychiatric nurse practitioner certification from Washburn University in 2020. She has over 10 years of nursing experience in various specialties within the medical field. Throughout her career, she has treated a variety of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and other psychiatric disorders. She is truly passionate about providing care for people suffering with mental illness. At Sunshine Behavioral & Mental Health Center, LLC, our goal is to provide compassionate, kind, and empathetic care to all of our patients and eliminate all stigmas associated with people diagnosed with mental illness.
