The key to lasting change is building these practices into your routine. Practice them regularly, tweak them as you go, and gradually, they'll become second nature.

If you are feeling stuck, and unable to make changes in your life, you're not alone. Whether it's in your professional life, your personal life, or both, feeling unsuccessful at doing life may affect your mood, your outlook, and your health. Repeated frustration and disappointment can lead to depression, anxiety, problems sleeping, etc. For 20 years, I have worked with people to help them unlearn negative behaviors and thinking patterns, replacing them with new habits and ideas that support the changes they want to make. Through experiencing success, most people find a new sense of accomplishment that improves their mood, enabling them to take better care of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally, Deciding to enter into therapy is an important decision. I believe that it can be a major turning point in your life, and by working through a modality that considers your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, you are very likely to achieve the quality of life that you are seeking.

My approach is solution focused. I am not primarily concerned with how or why your present challenge developed but will focus instead on helping you to find a way forward. I hope to elicit and reinforce your positive attributes and competencies and help you to access your inner strength. Your ability to change or improve your situation depends on your desire to do so and my job is to awaken that desire within you. The biggest challenge all of us face is negative thinking. This is a reflection of our own disappointment of what we see when we look inside ourselves. By improving our self-image through accentuating our positive qualities we begin to see the world in a more positive light. A sure way of feeling better about ourselves is to find something good in every other human being.

**ACCEPTING ADULTS (18+) ONLY** Hi, I'm Yang. And I'm here to help you heal from self-abandonment and emotional dysregulation. Self-abandonment occurs when we struggle to stand up for our needs and live by our authentic values; often, we don't even know what they are. Those who struggle with self-abandonment don't feel like they know who they really are, and what they want, and often feel directionless and ungrounded. We feel small, afraid, anxious, aggressive and dependent on others. Emotional dysregulation occurs when we don't understand our emotions and how to manage them. They control us, instead of the other way around. We behave in ways we wish we didn't, and we build up shame around those behaviors as if they are who we are. We cannot separate our emotions from who we are. These issues often lie at the heart of different mental health struggles, such as depression, anxiety, as well as many relationship challenges. The good news is that resolving these, therefore, can potentially lead to ripple effects of change in your life.

Samantha provides treatment for adults dealing with PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, issues with attachment, childhood trauma, and relational issues. Samantha Arreola is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in supporting clients through past trauma, specifically childhood trauma in order to foster healthier romantic, social, and familial relationships. I help people get unstuck from their negative thought patterns and behaviors, and work toward unapologetically loving themselves and their lives. A lot of my clients see me after being in an unhealthy romantic relationship that depleted them of their energy, made them question their reality and themselves, which led to confusion and self-doubt. Many of my clients also experienced not feeling loved, heard, or valued by their caregivers throughout childhood and adolescence. Both instances can have a significant impact on a person’s life, relationships, and self-esteem. Therapy can help you on your path to healing, self-discovery, and self-reflection. Trauma therapy such as brainspotting can help you heal from stored trauma in the brain. It can help you understand yourself better and bring light to subconscious forms of coping and dealing with issues in your life that might not be helpful.

Over human history, people have mostly lived in close-knit communities. This has eroded with the advances in transportation and technology. Most people have lost much of the social support our forebearers enjoyed. Mental Health Professionals have taken on this role in their respective communities and are an excellent resource for you to realize your strengths and improve your well-being. When your car breaks down you take it to a mechanic. When your tooth hurts you see a dentist. When your mental health can use a “tune-up,” see a Mental Health Professional!

Hi. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in California. I have extensive training and clinical experience in trauma therapies. My perspective is that childhood trauma has a lifelong impact on the ability of people to like, accept, and have compassion for themselves; to feel, express, and regulate their emotions; to be vulnerable, honest, and communicative in relationships; to take risks at work and in relationships; and to find meaning, satisfaction, and joy in life. My psychotherapy practice exists to help individual adults (18 years +) who are struggling with the consequences of childhood trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, prolonged grief, and existential issues such as identity, authenticity, aging, death, and meaning/purpose in life. I am comfortable working with males, females, young adults, middle aged adults, and older adults.
