I am originally from South Africa and have an innate ability to connect with people from different cultures. I am committed to providing a safe and trusting environment, which is the core foundation of my work with clients. I work with adults and teenagers who are dealing with depression anxiety, grief, hopelessness and other mental illnesses. I help clients experiencing panic attacks/anxiety using the application of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). As a cancer survivor, I understand all aspects of being a patient. I am passionate about helping clients cope with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. In addition to working at Grow Therapy, I run a private practice in Encino. I have also worked as the Clinical Director at A Home Within, an organization that connects foster children with therapists in private practice. Their motto: "One child, one therapist, for as long as it takes." My work at Safe Harbor, an Intensive Outpatient and Dual Diagnosis Facility was where I saw families and individuals and guided weekly teenage groups for self-harm. I completed my traineeship at Hillview Mental Health, an outpatient facility for clients representing a full spectrum of mental illnesses. I ran groups and worked with clients individually. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Northridge and a Masters in Psychology from Phillips Graduate University.

I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, grief & loss, PTSD, anger & stress management, relationship issues, substance abuse, parenting problems, individual with special needs, career challenges, OCD & ADHD, bi-polar, BPD, schizophrenia, etc. However, I don't accept couple/family at this time. I have been practicing as a psychotherapist for over 10 years. My Master’s in Social Work focused on Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality and how our different life experiences shape how we navigate our surroundings. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, some of my approaches to helping my clients identify their challenges and barriers to their identified problem starts with a person-centered and solution-focused approach to therapy. I recognize a client's right to self-determination, and I want to empower clients I work with to collaboratively come up with their own obtainable short-term and or long-term plans and goals for the present and the future lives they want to live. Let’s further explore together how to use better the tools you’ve been working with and perhaps add additional tools to the toolbox or not.

My approach is solution focused. I am not primarily concerned with how or why your present challenge developed but will focus instead on helping you to find a way forward. I hope to elicit and reinforce your positive attributes and competencies and help you to access your inner strength. Your ability to change or improve your situation depends on your desire to do so and my job is to awaken that desire within you. The biggest challenge all of us face is negative thinking. This is a reflection of our own disappointment of what we see when we look inside ourselves. By improving our self-image through accentuating our positive qualities we begin to see the world in a more positive light. A sure way of feeling better about ourselves is to find something good in every other human being.

Jungian therapy will look at the relationship of your “self” to your experiences and look at problems as a symptom of something deeper. Whether it be a thought or perception, dream, belief, value or current relationship that brings you to therapy, we'll look for what messages are coming to you from within. Tapping into your own creativity, we can use myth and metaphor, poetry, dreams, literature and art to explore your relationship to the problem.

I am firmly rooted in the belief that the therapeutic process is a symbiotic collaboration between therapist and client. Regardless of whether you're navigating a temporary challenge and seeking targeted, solution-driven guidance, or grappling with a persistent concern that requires long-term therapeutic involvement, there are moments when we all benefit from external assistance. I recognize the importance of individualizing therapeutic interventions. Everyone's journey is distinct, influenced by their unique life experiences, cultural backgrounds, and individual belief systems. It's essential to take a comprehensive view, taking into account not just the present symptoms but the whole person and their life narrative. By understanding each person’s individual story, I can offer more tailored guidance and interventions. This personalized approach not only addresses the immediate concerns but also empowers clients to better handle future challenges with increased confidence and self-awareness. I earned my doctorate degree from the esteemed California School of Professional Psychology. My professional journey has seen me serve in a range of environments. This journey includes my work at the UCLA Anxiety Disorder Clinic, where, as a psychological assistant under a seasoned psychologist, I honed my skills in managing anxiety disorders. My expertise also extends to substance abuse environments, both in acute inpatient psychiatric hospital, as well as outpatient clinics, where I've addressed the intricate dance between anxiety, depression, and addiction. My work in collegiate settings, such as President Barack Obama’s alma mater, has equipped me with insights into the stresses and anxieties faced by students navigating academic pressures and life's pivotal decisions. Furthermore, In the unique and challenging setting of maximum security prisons. Where as a forensic psychologist, I've supported inmates, including those serving life sentences, through the complex emotional landscapes of anxiety and depression linked to their circumstances. My therapeutic approach is anchored in both cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic theory. Typically, I employ psychodynamic perspectives to facilitate deeper insights into the origins of a client's psychological concerns. This understanding then serves as a foundation upon which we build a CBT-driven treatment plan, ensuring you're well-equipped to achieve your therapeutic objectives.

I graduated with my Masters in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2021 but have been working in the field as a Clinical Therapist since 2020. I have worked with various populations including Individuals, Children & Adolescents, Couples and Families. I help clients by coming from a non judgmental, supportive and empathetic, and relatable down to earth approach. I like to meet my clients where they are at and allow them to help me guide them by providing a space they feel comfortable to open up and be themselves in.

There are literally hundreds of therapy approaches. And yet, effective treatment is like learning to ride a bicycle: No matter what kind it is, you have to hop on and pedal if you want to get anywhere! I specialize in focused, experiential psychotherapy. That means together we pay direct attention to your authentic and palpable experience in session, including feelings, thoughts, discomfort, or body sensations. In some ways, it's like a shared meditation.

My name is Nima Robert Zahedi. I was born in Oklahoma in 1969. I have never been married, and do not have any children. I attended elementary and junior high school in Texas. In 1984 I came to California, where I attended high school. In 1996 I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University Fullerton. In 2002 I received a master’s degree in social work from California State University Long Beach. I chose to pursue a master’s degree in social work, rather than psychology, because I was drawn to the social work philosophy, and still am. In 2007 I became licensed as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). In 2015, I returned to school full time in pursuit of a doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.). In anticipation of my doctoral practicum, I accepted two part-time practicum positions; one at a forensic psychology practice in Orange County, and another at a general private practice in Los Angeles County. On August 25th, 2017, I successfully defended my doctoral project at California Southern University, which is an online school with WASC accreditation that was established in 1978- the campus is in Orange County California. I defended my doctoral project on campus, where I also attended Master Lecture Series by leaders within the field, and met with my academic adviser as well as with fellow students who were in the area. My personal interests revolve around athletics and arts. I grew up playing all of the major team sports as well as skateboarding and BMX. As an adult, I began pursuing surfing, jiu-jitsu, musical instruments/composition, and painting.
