I specialize in uncovering the root causes behind feelings of anxiety and depression, helping individuals break free from unproductive patterns that may be holding them back. With over 30 years of experience as a therapist, I've discovered that when we expose these patterns and express the emotions tied to them, your true self emerges. As internal conflicts diminish, relationships flourish, and the authentic meaning and purpose of your identity come to light. My goal is to guide each person in developing a personalized plan that aligns with their values and unique contributions. I've had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages. For children and young people, I provide a safe space for them to express themselves and navigate life's challenges. On the other end of the spectrum, I've supported elders and disabled individuals coping with loss and grief. When emotions connected to grief are stifled, I specialize in identifying and resolving these emotional roadblocks, facilitating a path to healing and adjustment.

Hi, I am a licensed clinical social worker in San Diego, California. My primary background experience is in helping clients to regain/increase control over their mental health, via developing increased insight/understanding of symptoms, identifying and utilizing coping skills, developing positive support systems, and increasing ability to problem-solve/navigate challenges. I have worked with adults in multiple settings, including those experiencing active crisis within acute locked psychiatric care, clients coming into outpatient clinics for mental health services and counseling/groups, clients utilizing substance use disorder treatment individually and in groups, and adult clients with developmental disabilities in the group home setting. Professionally, I've also worked both as direct care staff as well as in management and supervisor roles, and have also mentored undergraduate and graduate students. I'm looking forward to meeting you and offering you support. *** At this time I am unfortunately only able to meet with clients at the top of each hour. This is in order to maximize the number of clients I can meet with during each week. Thank you for your understanding. ***

You are on a path toward healing. I would love to partner with you and bring my training and experience to support your healing and growth. My work as a counselor began 10 years ago in Colorado. I worked for a transitional housing program to help clients overcome addiction and other barriers to stable housing. I worked in a jail as a part of a rehabilitation program to reduce recidivism. I worked for a community mental health center with clients transitioning out of hospitalization or incarceration. I worked with adolescents in a community-based program to treat addiction and other systemic barriers to well-being. When I moved to California I worked for a family resource center to provide trauma counseling to children, adolescents, and families. I worked with individuals and couples, led process groups, and taught parenting classes. Now I have a private practice and am engaged in the wonderful healing community of Nevada County.

I always strive to embody cultural humility, and I am proud to serve diverse clients of all backgrounds and walks of life. As a clinical therapist and cultural arts practitioner, I employ a unique artfulness to my style of therapy. I utilize traditional therapeutic modalities paired with mindfulness and meditation. Through clearly expressed goals and a commitment, one can be on the journey to self discovery, empowerment, mental wellness, and contentment. Under my therapeutic guidance, clients are empowered to create and embrace their own inner light. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Welcome to my (safe) space!!! I'm a bit of a Fred Roger's enthusiast, so let me start by saying thank you for being you!! My most important value is to treat people with love and respect, no matter their background, no matter their circumstances!! I believe we all deserve it!!! My name is Jose-Santos Xavier Orozco, feel free to call me whatever makes you comfortable!!! Life to me is about being flexible, or like Bruce Lee said, like water, being able to bend and reshape whenever needed, while maintaining strength and purpose!!! I am a 36 year old male therapist who was born in SF and raised in Los Angeles! My early years were spent in the foster care system until I was placed into a permanent family at the age of 6. I am of mixed Ethnic background and have experienced culture/ identity difficulties since as long as I can remember. Life has naturally brought me to get a degree in Social work and work in this field. I would definitely consider myself a wounded warrior, although I feel like my injuries have been pretty well tended to by now. Learning to accept and love yourself has been my greatest achievement (on-going achievement) and I promise that when you get there too, it can be yours as well!!! I prefer working with ADULT population; I have very limited experience working with kids. Thank you

Hi there, I primarily work in substance use recovery (abstinence and harm reduction) and trauma recovery. I also have specialized training in treating anxiety, depression, and sleep issues/insomnia. My treatment orientation is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy concepts, however the foundation of my early training was Psychodynamic. I have been trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, STAIR (Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation), and Seeking Safety for trauma treatment. When treating anxiety, I take a CBT, or exposure approach with skill-building. For depression I utilize CBT concepts, or behavioral activation with skill-building. For sleep issues, I work with the CBT for insomnia treatment model. These are just a few examples of treatment approaches I utilize. I am relational focused, which to me means finding a plan that works best for you, practicing cultural humility and not trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. I look forward to working with you.

I have been practicing as a psychotherapist for over 10 years. My Master’s in Social Work focused on Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality and how our different life experiences shape how we navigate our surroundings. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, some of my approaches to helping my clients identify their challenges and barriers to their identified problem starts with a person-centered and solution-focused approach to therapy. I recognize a client's right to self-determination, and I want to empower clients I work with to collaboratively come up with their own obtainable short-term and or long-term plans and goals for the present and the future lives they want to live. Let’s further explore together how to use better the tools you’ve been working with and perhaps add additional tools to the toolbox or not.

My approach is solution focused. I am not primarily concerned with how or why your present challenge developed but will focus instead on helping you to find a way forward. I hope to elicit and reinforce your positive attributes and competencies and help you to access your inner strength. Your ability to change or improve your situation depends on your desire to do so and my job is to awaken that desire within you. The biggest challenge all of us face is negative thinking. This is a reflection of our own disappointment of what we see when we look inside ourselves. By improving our self-image through accentuating our positive qualities we begin to see the world in a more positive light. A sure way of feeling better about ourselves is to find something good in every other human being.

Over human history, people have mostly lived in close-knit communities. This has eroded with the advances in transportation and technology. Most people have lost much of the social support our forebearers enjoyed. Mental Health Professionals have taken on this role in their respective communities and are an excellent resource for you to realize your strengths and improve your well-being. When your car breaks down you take it to a mechanic. When your tooth hurts you see a dentist. When your mental health can use a “tune-up,” see a Mental Health Professional!

Hi. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in California. I have extensive training and clinical experience in trauma therapies. My perspective is that childhood trauma has a lifelong impact on the ability of people to like, accept, and have compassion for themselves; to feel, express, and regulate their emotions; to be vulnerable, honest, and communicative in relationships; to take risks at work and in relationships; and to find meaning, satisfaction, and joy in life. My psychotherapy practice exists to help individual adults (18 years +) who are struggling with the consequences of childhood trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, prolonged grief, and existential issues such as identity, authenticity, aging, death, and meaning/purpose in life. I am comfortable working with males, females, young adults, middle aged adults, and older adults.

My name is Don Ross, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with individuals & couples and focus mainly on the here-and-now: the thoughts, feelings, and sensations that come up as we work together. Clients describe me as warm, human, and responsive. My #1 priority is to be fully present, accepting, and genuine—and to trust that each person I see has the wisdom and resources to find their own answers to whatever struggles have brought them to me. In my experience, people heal and grow if they are given the time, attention, and human connection they need to feel they are not alone in facing their troubles. I know this road personally—as client as well as therapist. For most of us, the process of healing means growth, learning, and better relationships with ourselves and the people in our lives--and it’s often an enjoyable journey. I welcome you as you share your journey from crisis to growth.

As a mother, wife, and first-generation college graduate, I draw inspiration from my trials, using them as fuel to empower others to create a better tomorrow. Aside from my clinical work, I am also a mental health speaker and advocate. I am passionate about stopping the stigmas related to mental health-- particularly in relation to mental illness. I want to work to normalize experiences working through and overcoming symptoms of mental health disorders. I want to provide support for those looking to work on their own diagnoses, but also help to end cycles of trauma and mental illness that can oftentimes reoccur in families across generations without intervention and treatment.

Jungian therapy will look at the relationship of your “self” to your experiences and look at problems as a symptom of something deeper. Whether it be a thought or perception, dream, belief, value or current relationship that brings you to therapy, we'll look for what messages are coming to you from within. Tapping into your own creativity, we can use myth and metaphor, poetry, dreams, literature and art to explore your relationship to the problem.
