Sometimes people find themselves repeating behavior patterns that don't help them move forward. Out-of-control thoughts, feelings and reactions can interfere with one’s sense of peace and well-being as well as relationships. If you can identify with any of these challenges, I can help you find your center and honor your life path. As an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist, I strive to create a safe, inclusive, judgment-free space for clients to explore, heal, and grow. *I work only with individual adults. I do not see couples, families or children. To get started you can see my schedule, book an intake appointment and see what insurance coverage I accept by clicking on this booking link: https://provider.growtherapy.com/book-appointment?id=13040&ref=prov. Or you can contact my dedicated intake team with Grow Therapy by emailing: reception+Debbie13040@growtherapy.com or calling (786) 755-1863.
In our first session, we will start with brief introductions and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. I will ask you questions to get some background information and will want to know what your goals are for our work together. You can also ask me any questions about my approach to psychotherapy.
I teach and support self-calming techniques including guided meditation, Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping) and sensory awareness. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy principles to help you understand and counter underlying beliefs that result in emotional pain. I use a non-judgmental, Person-Centered approach to support and guide you to discover solutions within yourself. My work is trauma informed and I address trauma using the Internal Family Systems modality if and when you are ready to do that.
I enjoy working with people who identify as LGBTQAI2S+. I have supported and guided transgender youth and young adults in transitioning often when they did not feel supported by their families or the society at large. Having worked with people living with HIV/AIDS in the 90's and more recently with elders and long term survivors of HIV, I am able to discuss and hold the fears and deep emotions related to illness, death and dying.
Individuals dealing with anxiety and depression, childhood trauma, LGBTQ+ identified people and their family members , people living with HIV and other illnesses, people in recovery from alcohol and other drugs.
