I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Qualified Supervisor with over 23 years of clinical experience treating children, teens, adults, and families. I have worked in community mental health agencies, in the public school system, with home-based care, in private practice, in the foster care system, and in residential settings. I specialize in issues surrounding family life, health and wellness, teenage struggles, couple issues, parenting skills, and communication within the home. My expertise lies in diagnosing and treating anxiety, depression, attention problems, and various behavioral and interpersonal problems. I believe in a strong work/ life balance so when I’m not seeing clients you can usually find me practicing yoga, cooking, and spending time with my husband, children, and two dogs. I look forward to meeting you!
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In the first session we will talk about why you are seeking therapy, explore the history of symptoms/difficulties, complete a brief assessment, and discuss confidentiality issues. Most importantly, the first session is the time for you to experience my style of interaction and for both of us to determine if we are a good fit to work together. My session are very relaxed and I often use humor to help build rapport.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My biggest strength is being able to ask the necessary questions to get at the root of what you are feeling and how it is impacting your life. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I come from a systems background, believing all interactions between people, particularly in families, is important to explore. My therapeutic style is a mix of focusing on the whole person, using and building on strengths, a solution-focused mindset, and the use of cognitive behavioral techniques.
