New to Grow
Over the past 15 years, I have been steeped in Somatic modalities aimed at healing the mind-body connection. Beginning with an interest in meditation, I followed the thread through studies in yoga therapy, yoga nidra, shamanic practices/nature ritual, trauma-release exercises, grief process co-facilitation, to completing my Masters in Somatic Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies. I am trained in EMDR and the Attachment Based Family Therapy model (ABFT), and have worked with hundreds of clients struggling with a wide range of challenges including complex trauma, anxiety, depression, dissociation, and relationship/family conflict. I love connecting with people and listening through to their longing for healing. I have a knack for holding multiple perspectives within complex relationships, and collaborating to resolve blockages that impede connection with oneself and the world.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Clients can expect to feel a sense of having a true ally on the path to greater human wholeness. Clients get the sense that their life circumstances are workable, and there is genuine capacity for change, for relating with themselves in a warmer, more compassionate way. Brandon is a deep listener and sensitive to the unfolding healing journey of the client. Clients feel that there are actionable steps toward what they long for most in their lives, and that they have someone in their corner to support them toward their goals.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
With warmth, sensitivity, and deep listening, I work in practical body-based psychotherapy approaches in combination with tools like EMDR to help resolve unprocessed traumatic material that has been keeping you on edge, fearful of your own experience. To feel at home in yourself, with loved ones, and in this world, one needs to find ways to relax with emotions and ease into your body. I understand through my own direct experience, the path from self alienation to inner connection. We will work with your early childhood experiences and the trauma you’ve experienced in your life to help you feel at home in your body, thoughts, and feelings, while recovering your strengths and capacities innate to human wholeness. It’s important to take a look at your own intergenerational relationship patterns that have been handed down to see what’s working and what needs some updating. I have deep experience in working with nuances of psychological pain and confusion, and helping people draw on their own capacity to heal into greater human wholeness.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
If a person has a wish to live with a greater sense of connection with themselves and the world around them, this is all that is needed. This wish comes from the deepest aspect of oneself. Of course, the longing for connection takes many forms. Perhaps depression, anxiety, dissociation, self-hatred, or conflicted relationships impede the connection one longs for - no matter the block, I am deeply invested in helping clients who are interested in understanding themselves on ever deeper levels, regardless of their starting point.
EMDR
The therapist is trained in EMDR. EMDR is used to reprocess traumatic memory, freeing the client from overwhelming psychological pain and somatic experience rooted in past traumatic experience.
Attachment-based
The therapist is training in attachment based therapy. The client and therapist develop a positive and supportive attachment within the working therapeutic relationship which supports the client in having a corrective attachment experience, therefore helping the client bring newfound security to the relationships in their personal life.
Family Therapy
The therapist is trained in Attachment Based Family Therapy, drawing on the Emotionally Focused model and attachment theory to help client clarify and resolve relationship conflict amongst family members and loved ones.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
The therapist is trained in DBT. The client learns to develop coping skills to help meet challenges, and develop resilience within their own nervous system to tolerate greater degrees of emotional intensity that often come with difficult life circumstances. The client develops the wisdom that they are acceptable as they are, while also embracing the need to grow as a maturing/evolving person.
