Hi! I am Stephanie, a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed therapist based in FL. I specialize in trauma treatment, anxiety and life transitions. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, young adults, and millennials. In the last 5 years, I have also worked alongside a diverse adult population supporting them through their healing journey. I provide culturally competent services by meeting clients where they are personally and emotionally. I believe in the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance where clients actively collaborate in their treatment. I have worked with a wide range of mental health challenges, including but not limited to, interpersonal problems, racial/ethnic issues, family issues, adjustment disorder, trauma, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will embark on a journey together to learn more about the specific challenges you are facing. We will take the time to discuss confidentiality, privacy, expectations, and a general overview of the therapeutic process. By the end of our session, you will have a tailored plan to work on, and all your questions about therapy will be answered. As we move forward, I'll do my best to tailor our sessions to your needs. My goal is to help you feel more empowered and self-assured. I love working with clients who are dedicated to their growth, but I know that this process can take some time. Just know that I'm here for you every step of the way. Let's take this first step to your journey towards emotional well-being.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have the unique ability to connect with my clients on a deep, empathetic level. Coming from a mixed ethnic and cultural background has given me a broad understanding of human intersectionality. With a compassionate and humorous approach, I guide my clients towards practical solutions using various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and EMDR. My goal is to help you find permanent solutions to whatever is troubling you.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

As part of my practice, I believe it's crucial to review early memories from childhood through the lens of attachment theory. We will identify unmet needs, and with a combination of techniques and tools, I will assist clients in drawing inner and outer resources to meet these needs in the present. I am very familiar with this modality of TX.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy in my sessions so clients better understand the connection between their thoughts/emotions/behaviors. I use tools such as identifying common cognitive distortions, Socratic questioning, exploring coping skills, assigning HW and others while treating clients. I was highly trained in CBT while completing my Masters degree.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I explore and help patient's cultivate the benefits of living a present-oriented- non-judgmental life. I often facilitate practical meditations and mindfulness exercises in session to help the patients experience the benefits of it and I motivate them to use these tools out-of-the-session.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT with patients who have a hard time managing emotions and are easily overwhelmed by life events. I psycho educate my patients on the 4 pillars of DBT (mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness). I determine how much of these skills to incorporate in session depending on the patient's needs.

EMDR

I am formally trained in EMDR therapy. I believe this method encompasses all the other methods mentioned above and adds an extra layer of treatment to address somatic symptoms. I make sure to explore external and internal resources, coping skills, and grounding techniques before using this modality of therapy, as I want my patients to feel comfortable and equipped to manage the sometimes "intense" emotions EMDR work can bring up.
