I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Holistic Health Coach. I help clients seek whole health for their Mind, Body, Spirit, and Relationships. I also hold several additional certifications - I am a Spiritually Integrated Therapist, incorporating the client's spiritual beliefs into the sessions to the extent they desire. I am a Certified Vagal Toning Practitioner, where I teach clients who experience frequent Fight or Flight responses how to balance their nervous system to become more calm and resilient to stress and trauma. I am also a Certified Integrative Mental Health Provider, where I integrate a mix of natural alternatives for the mind and body to treat a variety of issues.
I love to hear about your backstory and what brought you to therapy. The first session is mostly me getting to know you and then explaining what my therapeutic process is and what modalities I think can help you with your current concerns. Feel free to also ask me any questions about my experience!
I stand out in my holistic approach because I focus also on the health of the body and the nervous system and the role of spiritual practices, rather than only focusing on the mind, like most traditional therapists. I also love using expressive arts therapies into the sessions (if you desire), such as dance and movement, and music therapy!
I am best positioned to help clients who are seeking a holistic perspective - whole health for their mind, body, spirit, and relationships. I help clients who are struggling with anxiety and an overactive nervous system that has been affected by chronic stress and/or trauma. I also help clients who struggle with health issues, chronic illness/pain and want to practice better self care. I love teaching clients how to prioritize self love, self care, and self esteem!
I use body based techniques, which involves gentle movement to teach the client about the important relationship with their own body and its feedback cues in order to release trapped trauma and emotions from the body.
I hold a certification in Spiritually Integrated Therapy, which means that I incorporate the clients' personal spiritual beliefs into the session, whatever they may be. I have a background in Christian Counseling but can also incorporate other spiritual beliefs into the session depending on the client's preferences.
I teach Vagal Toning techniques to strengthen the client's Vagus nerve in order to interupt the Fight or Flight response and balance their nervous system so they feel more calm and at ease throughout their day and are more resilient to handle stress and trauma. These techniques are accomplished quickly and easily using the healing power of your own hands!
I teach the 4 modalities of DBT - 1) Mindfulness - how to be in the present moment without judgement 2) Distress Tolerance - how to tolerate stressful events 3) Emotion Regulation - how to manage difficult emotions 4) Interpersonal Effectiveness - how to manage relationships with others and set healthy boundaries
I help the client to determine what their Attachment Style is and how to work towards a Secure Attachment style in their relationships with others, whether romantic, work related, friendships, or family. We also discuss what attachment style means in terms of how they relate to others and the origins of their attachment style.
