LPC, 15 years of experience
Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. I hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education, am a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner, and am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Additionally, I hold a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis. I am a humanistic attachment-based counselor and believe in supporting clients build on their unique strengths and resiliencies through building on healthy self-identity and relationship with others.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I am experienced in working with a diverse group of people and issues as I have worked in executive leadership, as a practitioner, educator, and trainer for 15 years. I am an empathetic counselor that will also supportively challenge clients to consider other perspectives and ways to meet their goals.
I enjoy working with children, adolescents and adults who are seeking change. Often, we find ourselves stuck and wanting things to improve but lack the resources, skills, or ability to know where to start. I love helping support clients through building self-awareness, understanding patterns of response, and establishing healthy practical coping strategies to build self-regulation.
I am a trust based relational practitioner (TBRI). Understanding how early attachment patterns shape relationships and felt safety into adulthood are incredibly important. Recognizing our tendencies from a curious place rather than with criticism, provides a greater understanding of self and others.
I strive to affirmatively support clients from all walks of life, practicing with cultural humility and implementing individualized culturally responsive treatment.
TFCBT can be a useful modality for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. It is a regimented treatment that uses specific techniques to desensitize traumatic experiences by increasing self-regulation and cognitively restructuring the events.
I provide client-centered care, valuing each individual as a unique, resilient expert of their own lives. I strive to support clients in building on their resiliencies, strengths, and positive relationships; additionally helping clients recognize and address patterns of response or behavior that create challenge in their lives and relationships.
